Adopt a Cat from Safe Cat Foundation

Uploaded: May 2, 2009
At the April 28, 2009 San Ramon City Council Meeting I announced that Safe Cat Foundation would have a booth at the San Ramon Farmer's Market on the opening day of May 2nd.

All of you who raced to the market with kitty carriers in hand looking for the Safe Cat booth were disappointed not to see us there. Elise Stewart, President of Safe Cat Foundation, decided not to bring the cats because of the rain. "It's in the mud, and you know how much cats hate water," she explained.

So if you still want to adopt a Safe Cat, head over to the PetSmart in Dublin from 10 am to noon on May 3rd for their special adoption event this weekend, or every Saturday from 10 am to noon. Safe Cat now has weekly adoption events at the Dublin PetSmart on Saturday mornings.

We shall also be at the Farmer's Market in San Ramon on Saturdays from 9 am to 1 pm when the sun is shining.

Any hope for the Danville Farmer Market? I had understood that the Powers-Who-Are invoked some hoary Ordinance to block on-site pet adoptions there.

Citizen Paine,

I don't know what the rules are for pet adoptions at the Danville Farmers' Market. Right now Safe Cat has more venues than people to run them.

We need more volunteers to foster cats and kittens and moms and babies, especially now that kitten season is starting. We need more volunteers to host the adoption events we already have, which include the Dublin PetSmart on Friday nights and Saturday mornings, the San Ramon Farmers' Market on Saturday mornings, the Dublin Pet Food Express from 2 pm to 5 pm on the third Saturday of the month. We were doing it there every Saturday, but now we have the PetSmart on the other side of Dublin and not enough people for both. We also had someone at Nicia's Pet Depot in San Ramon on Saturday afternoons, but that person is doing adoptions at the PetSmart in Concord and Petco in Martinez on weekends (I hope I got those right).

We're a new organization and stretched pretty thin, so we would welcome any help we can get and so would all the needy cats in the Dublin and Martinez shelters.

Thanks for asking, Roz.

Roz -- good luck with new volunteers -- I hope folks try volunteering with your group -- they truly will get a bigger kick out of it than all the effort they put in!
