Police warn of lottery scam

Danville Police are looking for information in connection with a "confidence scam" run on an individual earlier this week. San Ramon Valley residents should be on the lookout for similar scams; other variants include the "advanced fee lottery scam" and the "overseas bail scam."

This is the old "Pigeon Drop" scam. It probably goes back to Ancient Rome. These cons play on people's greed or sympathy.

Tell the couple you will help them but you have an errand to complete first and you will be back in ten minutes. Then walk away and call the cops!
