My Maverick is Online Now

Uploaded: Sep 16, 2015

As my readers might recall I brought my 1973 Ford Maverick to Diablo Motors to put up for sale. Greg Meier, Diablo Motor's owner, called me in August about some mechanical problems that needed fixing – something about points and plugs and timing.

I noticed when I was driving it there on June 29th that it stalled a lot. So it must have needed some tuning up. Greg needed my permission for the work and the cost would be deducted from the sale. So I said "Yes."

I expected to see it listed online shortly after that, but it still wasn't so I called Greg again. He said they were just finishing up the tune up and other servicing it needed and would be taking photos for the website. I said I would write another blog on it once it is online.

Well it is online now with 33 photos from every angle and close ups of the tires and engine and whatever needed a close up. Diablo has it listed for $14,900, which sounds high for a Maverick but this car is beautiful. I hope it goes to a good home.

I bought it 10 years ago and even though it looked very good at the time, it really wasn't in good shape mechanically. So I put a lot into fixing it up without going through a complete ground up restoration.

I used to bring it to the Good Guys shows in Pleasanton for many years. My last show was June 2014 when she was in the indoor exhibit. I also used to go to the Ford Fun Sundays, which was held in Antioch a little over a week ago. So that one is too late for this year, but if someone buys the Maverick now, you can still make it to the Good Guys Autumn Get together in November.

The odometer shows 88,671 miles on it. I think it had about 85,000 when I bought it ten years ago. I didn't drive it very long distances, so I didn't put many more miles on it than it had when I bought it in Riverbank in 2005. I put new tires on it, so they don't have more than a couple thousand miles on them at most.

Mary Lou Oliver thought I would miss it, but I'm obsessive-compulsive and once the obsession is over, it is over. So I'm ready to take the money and run, or at least dive my almost new Nissan Frontier for now.

Not sure what the point of this article is other than your car is for sale.

Since Ed accurately pointed out that this blog is a baldfaced promo to sell my Maverick, I just posted a new blog on the Republican Debates. That way I can sell my political positions instead of my car.

I doubt The Donald will stay at the top much longer. Check it out and let me know which way you all are leaning. Web Link
