Sometimes, they just write themselves.

With apologies to Gene Vincent, as The Prez breaks into song:

Fewer friends out in the West Wing,
To deny our Russian ops,
Those guilty pleas are breaking up that old gang of mine.

All the boys are turning stoolie,
They’ve forgot their "Lock her ups!”
Those guilty pleas are breaking up that old gang of mine.

There went George, now here goes Mike,
With Mueller they’re in bed.
Maybe soon we’ll meet again,
But it’ll be at some Club Fed.

I get a sick! sad! feeling,
As the stars start to align,
Those guilty pleas are breaking up that old gang of mine.
Community.
What is it worth to you?

@Tom- since you refuse to write about anything meaningful, here is my poem to you:

Democrats long for an America again to hold its fascist roots,
Those days before the Second World War when Democrats had black knee high boots,
A time when they segregated, denied those civil rights, and lead with a doctrine of hate,
Oh Hillary where are you, we need you for a country you can take.

Just expressing my free speech as you do.

Hi Stan: I think you'll find, as I have, that where readers come out on the quality of the points made in this blog - as well as its occasional attempts at humor - have a great deal to do with where they came in, on the political spectrum.

As to extrapolating from this little ditty to the presumed quality of any legal services, well - you might just be overthinking it.

Mark: I do think that Mr. Ross rushed to judgment (even if "stars start to align" in the ditty does not). The so-called MSM is not a monolith, but a bunch of journalists and publications trying to be professional in their reportage. Sometimes, individuals fail, but in the big picture it's just not very often, truth be told.

And when one does fail, as you report above, there are actual consequences. Ross' mistake was corrected within hours, and he's been suspended, reputation in tatters. I would hope for something similar from the likes of Breitbart, but I am chuckling as I even try to type this sentence.

And in terms of crowing before the sunrise, there's much to worry about, and certainly nothing positive for the Prez in the Flynn flip. The rope is continuing to tighten, or (ahem) the stars to align.

Gary: nice troll - except you really can't expect anyone to believe your harassers claim. It's a fudge too far, even for this publication's more active readers.

Psssst - Hots - you want to have a "special arrangement," too? Here's how: listen up.

First, scroll up to the top of this page to the menu item "Blogs." See it there? Click on that.

Second, find the item "Interested in Becoming a Blogger?" on the new page. Got it? Click on it.

Now, you too have a direct line to the Very Top!

Fame and riches await, as does the routine opportunity to be trolled by anonymous mooks who won't even stand behind their opinions by attaching their names to their work. Oh yeah - there IS that drawback - you have to have a byline. It may not be for you, after all.

“There's much to worry about..."

Even the blogger isn't stupid enough to believe that Flynn being indicted for lying on a procedural matter unconnected to Trump is the same as lying on a criminal matter.

Since Friday, even liberals in the know have had to admit that the Flynn revelations are much ado about nothing. The dumber ones still hold out hope that Mueller finds anything to connect Trump.

It won't happen.

Watch the news cycle this week. By Wednesday there won't be one word of this, following the same pattern as Manafort, Papadapolous and Gates indictments.

And hey Tom and the rest of you libs, how's about that tax bill that cleared the Senate late Friday? That ACA mandate got wipe away, lol!

Am: it always amazes me that you believe I am the only literate liberal lawyer in this valley. Outside this little red speck of a Town Square/blogosphere, you reside in a deep blue ocean - with many, many capable 'sharks' swimming in it ;-) . I admire what 'Learned Hand' wrote in the TS - he/she is on the money. For non-lawyers, he was an actual, highly respected jurist. Every lawyer seeking an alias would consider using that moniker, and it does sound to me like those words came from an attorney.

Further, and more important, how could you possibly miss the blatant Hypocrisy of hiding behind your alias, while at the same time attempting to "out" others who use an alias? On this blog I don't much respect those who use aliases (especially the trolls, which you are not), but it's the rules of the publication to allow them. You've chosen to take advantage of those rules and not to stand behind your opinions - so be it (chicken). But you want to deny to others that same shield you use all the time! Quite despicable, it is.

By contrast, I know who you are, but I have Never seriously considered "outing" you - it would be wrong of me to do so. Perhaps you might consider extending that common decency to others with whom you interact.

Posted by American, a resident of Danville,
on Dec 4, 2017 at 9:11 am

Tom: Your writing style, phrases, punctuation, and views seemed identical to "Learned Hand", so I assumed(apparently incorrectly)it was you. Moreover, it seemed so transparent that it was you that I assumed you would realize that your regular readers would think it was you, and you would have no problem with us noting it was you. Apparently, that was not the case, and I apologize.

However, I do not take kindly to be called " a chicken" or "despicable" for not using my actual God given name on this blog. You, I would assume, would realize, that being a Republican is the scarlet letter in the liberal Bay Area, and could adversely affect me professionally and personally. If this publication was in the conservative Midwest where I grew up, I assume many of your fellow liberal followers would also not use their actual names when posting their opinions, as there it could adversely affect them professionally and personally.

Finally, I am deeply troubled by your assertion(threat) that "you know who I am". You could not know this unless you illegally violated terms of this publication privacy rights, or you got someone else at your request at this publication to illegally obtain that information and violate my privacy rights. I thought you, a card carrying liberal, respected the right to privacy, or at least, as an attorney, remembered that you took an oath when sworn in to follow the Constitution and all laws. Sounds like I need to retain a plaintiff's attorney specializing in privacy rights to immediately look into your illegal violation. Please put the publisher, Gina, and your own E and O's coverage carrier on notice.

I would also warn everyone reading this publication to stop posting any comments as apparently Tom and/or others at this publication are illegally violating the terms of this publication and obtaining information on who is posting.

easy hiding behind a kb, aye silly screen names users?

If the GOP cheerleaders (the sr one still to check in) are proud of their President, well that would say a lot. Even our allies laugh at 'our' President, or worse, just ignore him.

And those who praise the 'tax bill', please don't cry here when your taxes actually go up....and please, you can't mention the deficit ever. Amazing how the GOP went from whining about the deficit to exploding it once they were in charge. Hmmmmm. And please take a look at your recent re tax (due very soon) if over $10k or any amount you won't be able to do anything tax wise with that pymt. Am: you are hilariously transparent.

1 - you assume LH is me, and that I wouldn't mind being outed, gleefully, both in that thread and here. Why (oh, WHY?) would someone use an alias if he/she didn't mind being identified (which is, after all, why you say you are using your alias)?? That 'defense' obviously makes no sense, counselor.

2 - You claim that you use your alias out of fear of reprisals from some illusory liberal gestapo. That's kind of like fearing a monster under your bed - a convenient boogeyman, which simply doesn't exist. Most people grow out of it. How timid of you.

3 - Only you would interpret a public commitment Not to do something as a threat to do it. Over these 300 blogs, you have left ample public indications of your identity - the dog park references, your schools, your midwest upbringing, etc. - it wasn't hard to figure out, AND it violated nothing, nada, - there's not a single shred of impropriety in it, by me, Gina, or anyone or anything else. I was just curious. Your own sloppiness waived any privacy concerns - a self-inflicted wound. But there's not even been any disclosure - nor will there be. So bring it on - you will lose - and I hope in your actual professional opinion you know how empty that threat really is. If you don't, ask any other lawyer.

4 - any outrage you actually feel only emphasizes my point. If anonymity is so, so precious to you, then why would you not recognize and respect its value to others? Hypocrisy is ugly.

Posted by American, a resident of Danville,
on Dec 4, 2017 at 11:26 am

Tom: I have not been to the dog park in more than 10 years, I have never identified the names of the colleges I graduated from(and even if I did there are thousands of CA attorneys from those colleges) and simply noting I grew up in the Midwest also applies to thousands of CA attorneys. I have never said anything that would enable you to positively identify me. We both know that.

The only way you could know who I was if you illegally obtained at Danville Weekly my email address that my comments were sent from, and then illegally cross-referenced it to the State Bar website, or other entity. That is illegal, violates the terms of use and my expectations of privacy, and is actionable. Each time you mentioned, orally, or otherwise, to anyone my identity, you republished this illegality.

Hence, either you illegally obtained my information to learn who I was, or you lied and you actually do not know my identity. Those are the only two options, counselor. Which one is it?

If you acknowledge you lied and have no idea who I am by the end of the day, I will cancel the appointment I scheduled for Thursday with an attorney in Sacramento specializing in these type of privacy violations. Other wise, counselor, see you and Gina in court.

Am: I will not be fooled into publishing your identity. I will likely go to my grave with it (though not soon), and assuming I'm right (as I often am). I got to it via your writings, and nowhere else - once again your erroneous, limiting assumptions lead you astray when your emotions overrun your training.

Be certain to discuss with your new friend the occasions on which you referenced knowing me from the dogpark. They occurred several times, between threats to lead a boycott to have me removed from this blog, and your several temporary "self-deportations." Those were bluffs, too - you have a history of them. Anyway, enjoy your trip.

Or, you could also solve your problem by quietly learning a lesson, and merely refraining from trying to invade the treasured privacy of Other alias users. Washing your unclean hands of it, so to speak. That's really the point here, after all.

Tom as a man who did in fact vore for Mr. Trump. If he colluded with the Russians to win the election I want his orange butt thrown in jail. So far I do not see the evidence to support that but this show is far from over.

Thanks, Tom T! We Thomases may be Doubting, but we're agreeable sorts.

I'm not certain how to compare the two situations, straight-up, but it may be the Least thing that the General could be charged with, and the Most Serious that might be charged of Mrs. C. There may also be proof problems regarding lies vs. miss-statements, and other differences, but I've never practiced in the criminal arena.

Extracting that plea ensures that Flynn will be found guilty of SOMEthing, while Mueller holds much more serious charges over his head (and his son's) to ensure his continued cooperation. It also makes it clear to any others in-peril that the probe will probably learn everything that Flynn can tell it. That might lead them to ponder their own futures. It's a very deadly serious endeavor, and ponderous beyond the patience of many observers.

Well, hidey - ho simpletons, namely anyone who thinks they know what is going on regarding our prez.

See, first there was the collusion allegation. Now, it's more about obstruction of justice. So, what to make if it? Nada, in my most humble opinion.

What appears equally interesting though is the heat that appears to be directed now, and rightly so, towards Mrs. C. Yikes! And there is plenty of evidence that could possibly send her packing.

However the cases may be, regarding the cougher and the tweeter, one thing is clear, Trump is winning. What? You might cry?

Trump wanted Judge Gorsuch - win for Trump.

Trump's tax plan - win for Trump.

Trump's ban on immigration from certain countries - win for Trump (if you didn't know already, the Supreme Court just voted in favor of the ban - by a possible margin of 7-2).

Say what you want about Trump you wishful Demi-glaces, but Trump is winning.

Border Wall “ progressing"??? LOL! What is that supposed to mean? Either the Wall (a) has been built, or (b) is being built, or (c) is not being built. Which is it? LOL!

It's been about a year since Trump became President. That “Wall is progressing" talk is sounding pretty old and stale now. Oh, and what about Mexico paying for the Wall? Last I heard the President of Mexico basically laughed in Trump's face when Trump told him that he wanted Mexico to pay for the Wall. Is that effort to get Mexico to pay “progressing", too?

Now if you'll excuse me I need to get back to working on my latest backyard project: A home-built 10 Megawatt Fusion Reactor. How is it going, you ask? It's progressing.

Hey fellas - can we dispense with the adolescent taunts like 'Po' and 'Lil', or 'fat' or 'stupid?' They only add heat and detract from the value of any argument that accompanies them.

Now, all-growed-up taunts (to say nothing of doggerel), they're still okay. ;-)

@Tom, of course you reject my history, because you fail to understand the history of the Democratic Party. Born of racism, Pro-Slavery, segregationist, owners of slaves, against civil rights, and creators of the KKK. Here is a book, among may others, written by Dinesh D'Souza called the ‘The Big Lie.' @Michael Austin

“Troll?" Did I post anything inflammatory or off-topic or engage in a personal attack against you? No. I simply commented on a subject matter concerning Trump which YOU YOURSELF brought up. Throwing out a spurious “troll" accusation against someone simply because they rebutted your point is pretty childish behavior.

"Winning?" Winning what? C'mon man, make a case. Problem is, you can't; unless of course you feel that the language above will suffice as something academic.

My man Sam, one desperate dude. But that's okay. Trump is rolling right along, and you are powerless to stop him. Of course, you might fantasize about Mueller roping the prez in, and that's okay. But, like heroin, your fantasy is only a temporary fix.

@Jake Waters :"....because you fail to understand the history of the Democratic Party. Born of racism, Pro-Slavery, segregationist, owners of slaves, against civil rights, and creators of the KKK."

You're talking about the racist SOCIALLY CONSERVATIVE Southern Democrats who started the KKK over 100 years ago and who, over time and with passing generations, became SOCIALLY CONSERVATIVE Southern Republicans because, after all, the Republican Party is the party of SOCIAL CONSERVATISM?

Posted by Tom Cushing, a resident of Alamo,

Hey Michael: I do not 'do' twitter the same way I don't do crack, and for the same reason - I'd quickly become addicted. So the way I look at it, I generally get a thousand-or-two overlapping views for this stuff, and the Prez gets zero. It's a beautiful thing.

BTW, your 'troll' definition is pretty severe (plus, we don't Really know that you're Michael Austin Web Link ). To me, they're usually anonymous, but the message content is always inflammatory, and designed to annoy instead of make a point. I seem to draw both kinds of anonymous posters.

Jake: I'm familiar with D'Sousa; he has a following among the credulous, but he's also bat-(guano) crazy. You might consider this recent profile in the actually credible Vanity Fair Web Link , including: "... in his public life he's pathologically drawn to pushing the bounds of civil discourse, often with a disinterest in backing up his assertions with facts."

Or in his own words: “The most powerful country in the world is being governed according to the dream of a Luo tribesman of the 1950s"a polygamist who abandoned his wives, drank himself into a stupor, and bounced around on two iron legs ... raging against the world for denying him the realization of his anti-colonial ambitions. This philandering, inebriated, African socialist is now setting the nation's agenda through the reincarnation of his dreams in his son."

"[Even] The conservative Weekly Standard called the book 'lunacy.'"

On the merits, political parties evolve, or devolve, over time. The Dems lost their southern heritage when LBJ pushed the Civil Rights Act in 1964, and Nixon took advantage in 1968 - essentially, the parties flip-flopped.

And hell, the GOP used to stand for balanced budgets, before they realized they could sell the supply-side snake oil they've been trickling on the public since Reagan. It is once-and-forever voodoo nonsense, but it serves them well, somber sound-bite wise. More on that in another blog.

@Sam, I will address you first: please refrain from being a troll and carrying the water for your pal Tommy. It is very unmanly and rather weird.

@Tom, I gather from your weak response you haven't read the book, well documented I must say. I would imagine though that Hillary's books are on your coffee table, with worn pages. Just so you know, Dinesh is on a sponsored speaking touring throughout the colleges in this country, and it is driving the snowflakes crazy. He is very informed and a good speaker. His documentaries have been in the theaters.

What is it with you two twins, Tom and Sam, that you love to continue the spewing of Democratic hate and fake information? The unfortunate outcome of all this Tommy, is that you have a megaphone with the Pleasanton Weekly that allows you to hammer your opponents. You do have an impressive resume, which many people love bestowing on you, and I am sure you earned it, but I struggle to see any true thought exhibited by you other than your lack of fair and balanced reporting. Oh well.

Yes, Tom. Convicted felon Dinesh D'Souza"s movies are really a “must-see". His last movie, “Hillary's America" earned an overall rating of 4% on RottenTomatoes! That's an amazing 4 percentage points above Absolute Zero! Read some of the rave reviews by critics! :

“This thing is madness."

“Doesn't even qualify as effectively executed propaganda."

“A series of conspiratorial talking points familiar to Breitbart-oriented readers, but reshuffled in a new, startlingly illogical order."

“It's hard to conceive of how the film could make its argument any worse if D'Souza was deliberately attempting to overthrow the Republican Party from within."

“Earns unintentional laughs time and again, but at a certain point it stops being funny and becomes offensive instead, frightening in its constitutional debasement and exploitative sideshow spectacle. It couldn't be any more un-American if it tried."

“.. agitprop comedy at its most insane, surpassing even D'Souza's previous screeds. D'Souza grasps at historical straws, stretching them to unflattering conclusions"

“Hillary's America" isn't designed to stand up to skepticism. It's not intended to convince or to provoke thought, but to confirm the biases its intended audience already holds."

“The film is an incoherent and aesthetically barren harangue masquerading as a revisionist history lesson."

“A profound failure of unprecedented proportions. An embarrassment for Republicans, Americans, and pretty much the rest of humankind."

Aw, Jake: you've mistaken my attempt to be not-unkind to your D'Sousa infatuation for weakness. It's not. I don't read him or others on the fringes who are more interested in being trendy provocateurs than adding any serious commentary to the national discussion. His work has been thoroughly discredited by the Conservative press as I noted, and is rightfully ignored by everyone else.

So where does he go for attention? To college campuses, where he can still get a rise out of some undergrads who find him revolting. When they get older, they'll ignore him, too. I recommend it.

Hi Corey. Riddle me these: if Mueller didn't think he had something, would he bother to keep his investigation squeeky-clean, which it is?

and

How does replacing a Dem with a Dem change the balance of power? It's a bit like replacing Scalia with Gorsuch, in the sort-run (although that stolen seat may do some further damage during its lifetime)?

and, since Franken's accusers were adults, at least,

How do you feel about Judge Roy Pedophile? Is it all just partisanship with you?

Posted by Resident, a resident of Laguna Oaks,

“would he bother to keep his investigation squeeky-clean, which it is?"

Mueller fired his top investigator, Peter Strzok, months ago (we're just now hearing about it) for ant-Trump texts to a woman he was having an adulterous affair. It was recently found out that another of Mueller investigators, Andrew Weismann, was cozy with fired DoJ acting AG through email. He'll be gone soon.

Next up, investigator Jeanne Rhea, former attorney for the Clinton foundation.

You're right Tom, squeaky clean. /s

“Judge Roy Pedophile"

Prove it.

Franken sexually assaulted a woman and it was captured in a photograph. That not one lib democrat on this thread has called for his resignation is not one bit surprising.

I can't wait to go to Jerusalem, the recognized capital of Israel.

Another campaign promise fulfilled.

Winning.

It will be reported on ABC today that the date and time were added to the yearbook entry of one of Moore's accusers.

There are numerous reports already that the handwriting doesn't match Moore's, and her lawyer will not release the yearbook for independent analysis, but hey, why let facts get in the way of a good smear campaign.

Hope Roy Moore sues the beejeebus out of her.

And still, Hillary Clinton will never be President.

Winning.

Posted by Sam, a resident of Oak Hill,
on Dec 8, 2017 at 12:52 pm

@Resident

Certainly wasn't very smart of the accuser to do anything to the original evidence. But even though she admits adding some notations, she sticks by her claim that Roy Moore signed her yearbook. Also, there are other women that this one who claim that Roy Moore acted improperly towards them.

Haven't been following this Moore story closely, but not long ago Moore supporters were claiming that the Moore's signature on this yearbook was "too good", in the sense that it was claimed by his supporters to be an exact copy of his signature on another document. Now you're claiming that it's a fake and "the handwriting doesn't match Moore's". So which is it? Too good or complete fake? Seems that you Roy Moore defenders need to all get together and keep your story straight.

Posted by Resident, a resident of Laguna Oaks,

“..,who CLAIM that Roy Moore acted improperly towards them."

Yep, they CLAIM. But do any of them have semen stains on blues dresses from the likes of Billy Jeff, or pictures of them groping like Franken?

Nope, and therein lies problem. This looks more and more like a political hit job the more time passes. The people of Alabama will undoubtedly elect Moore. They will elect him because they, like many others outside their state, will have seen this story for a sham.

If this accuser changed the date, then why didn't she say so I'm the beginning? I'll tell you why, because she and her legal team knew that it would autatically invalidate her allegations. And Sam, please tell us why they won't allow a third party review of the yearbook?

We all know the reason why, it will be shown to be a fraud.

This election is a done deal. Get over it.

Sam: it comes down to this - 8 women aren't enough when it's Your guy, but 6 women are plenty when it's the Other Guy's guy. And we'll throw in the blue dress because ... Clinton! As John Oliver has said "but what about x!" is one of the Trumpistas' most common, and flawed deflections, like all those good Nazis on the other side in Charlottesville.

There's also just no arguing with tribal identification and Loyalty - as someone else thoughtfully suggested: "You can't lead a person away from a position that intellect and evidence didn't lead him to in the first place."

Don't ever 'get over it' - but don't expect the Trump tribe to recognize its fallacies, lies and distortions.

Over/out.

@Resident: "Yep, they CLAIM. But do any of them have semen stains on blues dresses from the likes of Billy Jeff, or pictures of them groping like Franken?"

So you're saying that no claims by even multiple women on these matters are credible unless they can actually show stains on dresses or pictures or some other physical evidence to back their stories up? Is that what you're going with?

Sam,

I can claim that you and Tom are insane, yet there you both sit, tapping on your keyboards instead of being admited to Napa State hospital.

Get it, or do I have to explain it with a diagram?

In America we have a court system. These women had every opportunity to take advantage of the privilege of having the fairest society in the history of the world. That they chose to try their cause in the court of public opinion instead of the court system is nobodies fault but their own.

As a lawyer, Tom sure forgets the value of evidence.

Still waiting for your proof. Blue dress, pics...anything.

I won't hold my breath.

Okay, one more. Per Pew Research Web Link Trump's job approval rating this week = 32%. Pew is an impartial, unimpeachable source.

Inside those 32%, 62% say they can't think of a thing he's done that they don't like. So, about 20% of the electorate are simply, blindly loyal (just like he prefers his FBI Directors to be). A few of them read the danvillesanramon.com.
