Hotel and more big box stores planned for El Charro RoadUploaded: Apr 26, 2016
The Fallon Road/El Charro Road interchange on Interstate 580 could get even busier after this week’s announcement from the Republic Family of Companies of its plans for a 22-acre site on the Livermore side.
The Livermore side of El Charro already has the wildly successful San Francisco Bay Premium Outlets, a regional traffic magnet. Dublin has a thriving retail center on its side anchored by Dick’s Sporting Goods and Target.
Now the Republic folks are planning a 250,000-square-foot project that is designed for two “big box” stores, a 125-175 bed hotel (something that business travelers in the valley will welcome) plus other strip retail, according to a report in the San Francisco Business Times. It also includes room for auto dealerships that will complement the existing dealerships on the Pleasanton side
Dubbed “The Crosswinds at Livermore,” (I doubt that the developers named the center for the newly constructed Crosswinds Church that is located just east of the outlets), it should be considered by city officials in May.
Commercial real estate agents already are marketing the spaces.
Because of its location at an outlying corner of each of the cities, the burgeoning developments contribute significantly to revenues (particularly the car dealerships) and have minimum impact on neighborhoods. The challenges will be for motorists on I-580 and those patronizing the retailers.
How’s this for a fundraiser organized by guys who are not worried about being politically correct.
Danville Town Councilmen Robert Storer and Newell Arnerich are joining with Don Peed to hold a fundraiser for Congressman Jerry McNerney of Stockton (formerly of Pleasanton). The invitation reads “Cigars, Wine, Scotch and Food.” Tempting to go even if I do not support Jerry.
One of the funnier news stories of late is the number of celebrities and other well-known folks who mistakenly registered for the ultra-conservative American Independent Party. They thought they were registering as “decline-to-state” or independent, but instead find their ballots with the candidates for the very conservative folks.
Why it pays to read the small print.
