The Pleasanton school board has chosen Parvin Ahmadi as the new superintendent of the Pleasanton Unified School District pending final approval by the board at its next regularly scheduled public meeting.

Ahmadi, who has an extensive background in education and for the last two years has been Assistant Superintendent of Instruction for the Fremont Unified School District, will succeed Superintendent John Casey, effective with his retirement June 30 after eight years at the helm of the city’s schools.

The school board is negotiating a final salary contract with her. Casey’s salary currently is $227,000.

In Fremont, she supervised assessment, elementary and secondary education, special education, student services and the selection of instructional materials as well as federal- and state-related projects.

Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates, Ltd. (HYA) was hired at a base cost of $30,000 to conduct the PUSD’s search. An initial pool of 30 initial candidates was narrowed to six, then four.

The final four were interviewed in a series of closed-door sessions April 16-18. Those candidates met with a community panel of administrators, parents, community leaders and teachers union representatives.

Think we could get a qualified person for less?Lot of $$$ given the teacher layoffs.
Not impressed she comes from Fremont. Stepping stone district to Pleasanton/San Ramon

  2. Not very smart Pleasanton as u luckily lack the “diversity” of Fremont The pay pkg is ridiculous and should stifle any future bond requests. At least she isn’t from redwood city school district.

  3. Ditto to the comment about teacher layoffs, increased class size and cuts to district programs and the amount that the sup. is getting. In this economic climate?! WHAT is the board thinking????

  4. Parvin Ahmadi was born in Iran and came to the United States in 1975, nearly thirty years ago. Her educational background, as well as her status as a successful immigrant will certainly assist in supporting the growing diverse student population in the Pleasanton Unified School District. Good luck, Parvin.

  5. I agree with Bill. CRAZY to spend this on one person. Think twice the next time the schools ask for money because they are broke and have to cut programs blah blah blah. We hear this all the time. Vote with your pocketbooks. And, who cares where Parvin Ahmadi was born?Thought we are supposed to be color blind? And now for your history lesson. In 1975 the Sha of Iran paid for Irainian students to attend American Colleges and Universities. Paid for everything so “success” was not an anomaly.
