The Roundhouse Market & Conference Center, a state-of-the-art 50,000-square-foot conference center, is now open at 2600 Camino Ramon in San Ramon's Bishop Ranch and will be a new destination for corporate meetings and events, as well as a meeting place for the community.
"The building is pivotal and has become a focal point for businesses and for our community," said San Ramon Mayor Bill Clarkson at a ribbon-cutting held by the San Ramon Chamber of Commerce Thursday. "It's absolutely extraordinary, and it's just the beginning."
Clarkson said a four-story parking garage structure had been dedicated the day before, and the work on the City Center is progressing.
Harout Hagopian, senior vice president, general manager of property management of Sunset Development Co., said that the opening of the conference center is the first step and, when completed with the restaurants and other amenities in full operation, the center will be "something very special in the middle of San Ramon."
For corporate meetings and events, the Roundhouse offers approximately 27,000 square feet of interior space and 23,000 square feet of outdoor space appropriate for meetings or events.
The interior space includes a large auditorium with a capacity of 300, two lecture halls, a multi-purpose room with a capacity of 160 and six boardrooms with a common amenity lobby and workstation. Outdoor space includes an atrium with seating capacity for 150 and a waterfront patio plaza, also with seating capacity of 150.
David Ezzo, general manager for the Roundhouse Market & Conference Center, said the Roundhouse is "a very unique offering here as a non-hotel."
"It has rooms you can't get in a five-star hotel like the auditorium, the lecture halls and the atrium," Ezzo continued. "It's gong to bring the businesses from outside (San Ramon), from San Francisco, Silicon Valley, just for these rooms."
In May, Bishop Ranch officials announced Moana Restaurant Group would open Roundhouse Market, set to open later this year. The "culinary hub" will include three quick-serve concepts, an upscale restaurant and coffee bar. A Mexican taqueria, an Italian pizzeria, a gourmet sandwich and salad bar and a coffee bar will serve those who are looking for a quick bite. A full-service American restaurant with lakefront dock patio will provide a setting for those looking to have a business meeting or sit-down meal.
Stewart Bambino, executive director and CEO of the San Ramon Chamber of Commerce, said, "It's a world-class facility and we're thrilled to have it for all the businesses that will be moving here. It's great for the community."
