San Ramon boy wins division title in junior golf tourney

Anay Roge finishes 4 shots ahead in Boys 11-13; older brother places 2nd in next age group

San Ramon resident Anay Roge took home the first-place trophy in the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour event in Brentwood earlier this month, finishing four strokes clear of his nearest opponent to win the Boys 11-13 Division.

Roge led his age group with four birdies during the two rounds at Shadow Lakes Golf Club on Feb. 13 and 14. He opened with an 83 in the first round at the par-71 course and closed two shots better with an 81 on day two.

Blake Knox of Nevada City finished in second place after posting 26-over-par for the tournament. In third place, 13 strokes behind Roge, was Yusuf Ahmed of Folsom.

Anay Roge wasn't the only member of his family to excel at Shadow Lakes. His older brother Ansh Roge came in second place at 17-over-par in the Boys 14-15 Division.

Ansh Roge used a strong day-two performance to leapfrog several competitors on his way to the runner-up finish. He shot a 2-over-par 73 in the final round after opening with an 86.

Milpitas resident Brian Ma won the Boys 14-15 Division, shooting 6-over for the tournament.

San Ramon's other top finisher was Alexis Browne, whose 27-over-par performance in the Girls 14-18 Division earned her third place. Grace Chen of Sunnyvale won the division at 11-over-par.
