Investigators are looking for two armed men suspected of carjacking a man at his home in unincorporated Danville Wednesday then leading police on a high-speed chase along local freeways before getting away, according to Contra Costa sheriff’s officials.

The suspects entered the victim’s garage as he arrived home on Conejo Drive a little before 11:35 p.m. They then stole some of his personal belongings and a black 2014 Honda Pilot, according to deputies.

One of the men drove the Honda Pilot and the other got into a white sedan with paper license plates and both fled westbound onto Camino Tassajara and Sycamore Valley Road. Danville police spotted both vehicles near Interstate 680 and started a pursuit, according to the sheriff’s office.

The suspects fled onto northbound Interstate 680 and then headed westbound on Highway 24, where officers stopped following them due to safety concerns, said sheriff’s spokesman Jimmy Lee.

The Honda Pilot was found near Oakland Avenue and Pearl Street in Oakland. The victim wasn’t hurt during the carjacking.

Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 313-2600, send an email to tips@so.cccounty.us or call anonymously at (866) 846-3592.

  1. You can not blame the police for stopping the car chase as the criminals headed toward Oakland. We live in a society now where the President of the United States and his liberal political allies and ambulance chasing lawyers blame the police for everything, and never blame the actual criminals for their actions. If the police tried to do their job and aggressively go after the criminals, they would be labeled racist, and face lawsuits from ambulance chasing lawyer. “Community organizers” would set up riots and protests, and threaten the police for violating their “constitutional rights” to loot and vandalize.

If you like the current state of affairs, and enjoy seeing criminals attack law abiding citizens in Danville, and then flee back to Oakland, with no consequences, vote for Hillary. If you tired of the lack of law and order, and lack of respect for the police, vote for Trump.

  2. There was a daylight robbery by two armed men in Orinda just last week. Now this. I am disgusted that despite having two suspects of a violent crime in their sights, our police were incapable of coordinating a pursuit or blocking off the Caldecott tunnel–at midnight, in light traffic. Could they not coordinate with CHP? Were these thugs driving a super-charged white sedan and SUV with race-car precision?

I guess we will have to wait until they attack again and victimize more tax payers. Sadly, the police are not going to get a better break than this one so don’t expect them to get caught soon, unless their car breaks down while fleeing the scene, in front of a police station.

  3. Tom says that we’ll have to wait until the criminals ‘victimize more tax payers”. Trump will not have to worry since he is not a tax payer. In the debate he called himself ‘smart’ for his ability to avoid paying Federal taxes for years. Consider how much in taxes a billionaire would have to pay, then multiply that times 15-20 years, which is the estimate of how long Trump has not paid Federal taxes. When he was challenged by his opponent on this at the debate, he arrogantly said’ It’s called smart”. So to Tom’s comment above about tax payers being victimized. Maybe we deserve it according to Trump’s logic, we were the dumb ones who actually paid taxes. And, to the commenters, above, talking about the ‘criminals in Oakland’, someone who manipulated their tax returns to avoid paying taxes year after year is also a criminal. My money is going to roads, bridges, Social Security, Medicare, and defense but Trump is not contributing at all. How can he complain about issues in our country that are funded by taxes when he has not been paying his share? I’m paying taxes with my middle class income but a billionaire is not. Tom’s comment was that police ‘let” criminals get away and we tax payers will continue to be victimized by criminals. I feel victimized by a criminal–Donald Trump.
