Police are investigating a graffiti threat made against both Danville high schools that has been deemed not credible, according to local officials.

Danville Police Chief Allan Shields said the graffiti was found on a footbridge near Old Blackhawk Road, reported Sunday afternoon by a resident. The message read, “Shooting at MV and SRV 10/3” — an apparent reference to Monte Vista and San Ramon Valley high schools.

Shields said there is no evidence supporting the threat as credible as of 10:30 a.m Monday morning.

“We will continue to investigate this, but at the same time we are taking it seriously,” Shields said. “We plan to have an additional presence at the schools tomorrow, and will be working with the school district to ensure the safety of students and staff at the high schools.”

The San Ramon Valley school district sent out a message to parents/guardians and staff, reaffirming that while there is no evidence supporting the threat as credible, they are nevertheless taking precautions.

“There is no evidence to support that this threat is credible,” district spokeswoman Elizabeth Graswich said. “However, because the safety of our students and staff is our utmost priority, we are still taking this threat very seriously. We will be taking precautions to ensure student and staff safety, working very closely with Danville Police and our local law enforcement partners. There will be additional officers specifically at these two schools this week as well as increased police presence at all of our campuses.”

The graffiti in question has been removed by town staff, according to Shields.

Anyone with information on the graffiti is asked to contact the police department at 314-3700.

  1. I think the city should designate a certain, maybe rundown, area for graffiti artists to paint without having to get into trouble. Maybe not an easy fix, but could maybe help nontheless.
