An earthquake that struck the East Bay early Thursday morning had a magnitude of 4.4, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The earthquake had a preliminary magnitude of 4.7, but USGS officials have since revised the magnitude.
The earthquake struck at 2:39 a.m. in Berkeley near the Claremont Hotel, just south of the University of California, Berkeley campus. It was more than 7 miles deep.
