Billy Ocean or George Thorogood? Craig Ferguson or Roseanne Barr? Pink Floyd Tribute or Almost Elton John?

These are among the questions the San Ramon Performing Arts Division needs its patrons to answer.

With summer right around the corner, city officials are looking to set their 2018-19 schedule and want to hear their patrons’ opinions. To do that, the city has posted a survey asking participants which band or performer they would most like to see. Participants have until April 13 to have their voices heard.

Questions are multiple choice and divided by genre and include pop/adult contemporary, R&B/blues, jazz/world music, country, and even a section for popular tribute bands. In addition to musical entertainment questions also include options for other performances such as stand up comedians, dance crews, Russian ballet, and various children’s entertainment performers.

For participants’ convenience, the majority of artists in the survey have links to a sample of their music or performances.

“The survey helps us decide what to pursue, of course they (the group) have to be touring, available, and within our price range. There’s a lot of moving pieces,” said Nicole Blazin, division marketing and public relations analyst. While you may not see the artist who receives the most votes at the Dougherty Valley Performing Arts Center this summer, it gives the venue managers an idea of what the community desires for their venues, she added.

So if for some reason the Wailers couldn’t be booked then maybe San Ramon Performing Arts could find a Bob Marley cover band to take its place.

Shows will be held in the Dougherty Valley Performing Arts Center and Front Row Theatre. Past performers at these venues include Eddie Money, Judy Collins, Air Supply and Smokey Robinson.
