Residents aspiring to be a Bride of Frankenstein looking to have a spooktacular wedding this Halloween are in luck.

This Halloween the Contra Costa County Clerk-Recorder’s Office will be offering residents the opportunity to be married by a costumed officiant. Possible officiants include (in-costume) Slash of Guns N’ Roses, Harley Quinn, Beetlejuice, a bucket of popcorn and many others.

“We try to offer special venues to give our couples an experience they’ll never forget,” Clerk-Recorder Joe Canciamilla said. “Obviously those looking to get married on Halloween are looking for a memorable experience. It is fun for everyone.”

One of the ceremony rooms will be decorated accordingly, as well as some of the office space, with Halloween themed flair.

Residents will still have the opportunity to get married on Oct. 31 by deputy officiants wearing traditional robes if they so choose.

While the Clerk-Recorder’s office will take on the task of ensuring a wedding official will be ready and waiting for for couples, some preparation is needed for the ceremony. Couples can retrieve a marriage license prior to the ceremony online or at the county offices in Martinez, 555 Escobar St.

The civil marriage ceremony fee is $60. Couples can obtain a public marriage license for $86 or a confidential license for $90. Halloween ceremonies will be held on Oct. 31 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m, 555 Escobar St, Martinez.
