Danville: Jim Caruso's 'Cast Party' coming to Jazz Room

Village Theatre series celebrating two years with open mic variety show

Danville residents who have become fans of the town’s monthly Jazz Room series are invited to join in the celebration of a special milestone as the ongoing series officially turns two years old this month, with a special show at the Village Theatre and Art Gallery.

To celebrate the series' second birthday, New York showman Jim Caruso will be bringing his acclaimed variety show “Cast Party” to the Tri-Valley, with the ensemble stars of the show featuring you, the residents of Danville.

"Cast Party" is an impromptu variety show and open mic performance where experienced superstars as well as aspiring up-and-comers can come together to sing and dance, ensuring that every show will be unique in its own way.

To assist performers famed performer Billy Stritch will be onhand to provide an upbeat and exciting experience for the audience and assistance for the performers themselves.

Residents interested in securing a spot early or learn more will need to email Caruso at in order to sign up, but "Cast Party" is an open mic and residents can sign up the day of the show, space permitting. Just be sure to bring necessary sheet music for the musical accompaniment the night of the show.

Presale tickets are already selling out and range in price from $20 for students to $25 for adults. They can be purchased online at the Village Theatre's website or if available purchased at the door for an additional $5 each.

The Village Theatre parking lot expansion project is still under construction -- set to be completed early 2019 -- so residents are advised to head out early to find parking.

The performance is scheduled for Jan. 18 at 8 p.m. in the Village Theatre & Art Gallery, 233 Front St., with doors opening at 7 p.m.

Danville’s Jazz Room series began in 2017, next month's show, Feb. 7, will feature jazz vocalist Lisa Lindsley, who will perform some of Broadway’s greatest hits from shows such as "My Fair Lady" and "Wicked." She will be performing these hits in Danville alongside the Mike Greensill Trio for this one night only.
