Local teacher wins T-Mobile award for photo of Grizzlies' freshman team

Bella Vista Elementary School teacher Dwight Pratt has secured a $1,000 grand prize for California High School’s football program, doing so by submitting the winning photo to T-Mobile's High School Sports Photo Contest.

Sponsored by Alpha Media Bay Area in partnership with T-Mobile, the competition collects submissions depicting high school student-athletes in action, awarding a $1,000 prize to a high school sports programs throughout the Bay Area once a month.

Pratt, a former coach and player for the Grizzlies, won December’s award for his photograph depicting the Cal High’s freshman football squad squaring off against Danville’s Monte Vista High School Mustangs.

"T-Mobile's proud to support the Bay Area community, and local student-athletes, as they pursue their athletic dreams," said Rich Garwood, senior vice president at T-Mobile. "As the Un-carrier, we recognize the passion, hard work and determination it takes to be at the top and T-Mobile wants to encourage kids to continue to be the best they can be as they represent their communities now and in the future."

Photos are collected from coaches, students and fans from every kind of high school sport imaginable, with winners being selected randomly at the end of the month. San Ramon Valley residents are encouraged to submit photos of their favorite youth sports teams or moments to the Bay Area Hometown Sports website, but are advised to act sooner rather than later as the contest ends July 31.

In order to participate applicants must submit a photo of a high school sports team with a brief description of the image, and must be 13 years old or above.
