In an effort to educate current and prospective residents and businesses on what San Ramon is all about, the city has produced a series of community vignettes, or short films, detailing different aspects of life in San Ramon.

The seven short films produced by the city, take viewers on a virtual tour of San Ramon. Starting with an introductory greeting from Mayor Bill Clarkson, the vignettes explore economic development, open space preservation, parks and recreation opportunities, police and safety, planned infrastructure projects, and various community organizations found in the city, among other highlights.

“These community vignettes are part of the City Council’s goal to continually inform residents and businesses about every aspect and major project of San Ramon as well as socio-economic and environmental goals for our city,” Mayor Clarkson said in a statement. “We also believe that the vignettes will complement our ongoing effort to highlight why San Ramon is one of the best communities in the U.S. to launch and grow a business.”

The vignettes highlight what city officials believe to be San Ramon’s biggest draws and accomplishments. For example Police Chief Craig Stevens notes that San Ramon is one of the safest cities in California, a designation it received from Safewise, a national security company.

Stevens attributed this designation to San Ramon’s historically high levels of cooperation and trust among residents, police officers, school officials and community organizations.

Other videos show Mayor Clarkson and Parks Commissioner Shelly Lewis, praising San Ramon’s scenic ridgeland parks and its overall extensive parks system — which city officials say contains more parks per capita than any other San Francisco Bay Area city.

“We hope that the community vignettes will help to showcase why San Ramon – with its highly-regarded schools, economic opportunity, natural beauty, overall safety and access to good medical care – is one of the gems of the Golden State,” Clarkson said.

The community vignette videos each run for about one to two minutes and are available online now via the official city of San Ramon website.
