Danville council to consider final approval of Camino Tassajara residential project

Plus: Special study session to review 2019-20 operating budget

The Danville Town Council is set to weigh final approval of a preliminary development plan for 18 single-family homes in east Danville on Tuesday evening.

According to a town staff report, the development plan for the project requests that town officials rezone and subdivide the 5.05-acre Tassajara Nursery property -- located on 2550 Camino Tassajara -- for an 18 single-family-home residential development.

The council indicated initial support for the project during its May 7 meeting, so the final approval vote on Tuesday is listed among the council's consent agenda -- up for approval without further discussion unless requested by a resident or council member

The Danville Town Council is scheduled to gather for its regular meeting Tuesday, 7:30 p.m. at the Town Meeting Hall, 201 Front St.

*T he council will also listen to a presentation detailing the activities of the town’s Maintenance Services Department by department director Jed Johnson.

* Council members will meet during a special study session Tuesday morning, to continue their review of Danville’s 2019-20 operating budget and capital improvement program.

Town staff have recommended that only a few changes be made and that Danville’s operating budget be increased by only $281,290, or 0.9%, from the previous year's budget, according to a staff report by Town Manager Joe Calabrigo.

The council will also consider approving up to $50,000 to support local businesses with its business promotion fund. If approved by the Town Council, this increase would result in just over $33.2 million worth of operating expenditures for the 2019-20 fiscal year.

The council will hold its special study session, Tuesday 8:30 a.m., at the Danville Town Offices, 510 La Gonda Way.

I can not believe the town of Danville is building more houses on a small amount of property. Our small town is getting over crowded and losing its small town feel. Please stop building more homes!

I completely agree. Camino Tassajara is already a freeway. Please don't congest this area any more! The nursery has been a part of the community for so long. Please don't replace it with more houses!

This is a great location for housing. Feeds right on to a major arterial designed for traffic. Danville needs to build our share of housing, we can't just send commuters all over the Bay Area and pretend that we don't need to play a part.

Don't miss out on the discussion!
