Danville: SRVFPD firefighters to conduct structure fire training in town

Training taking place at 46 Smokewood Court now through Monday

Firefighters from the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District will be conducting structure fire training exercises in Danville now through Monday, and fire officials want residents to not be alarmed if they see smoke -- real or synthetic -- in the training area.

Training will be conducted from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 46 Smokewood Court, near the Sycamore Valley Road and Brookside Drive intersection. Firefighters will be conducting various exercises on the acquired building in order to prepare for the real deal.

“Allowing training on these types of buildings allows safety personnel to use realistic scenarios to carry out multiple combinations and types of training in our community. The ultimate goals of these types of training opportunities is to better prepare, prevent and respond to emergencies,” SRVFPD officials said in a statement.

Firefighters will be using a variety of equipment and vehicles for the training operation, which may create a certain level of noise.

SRVFPD officials added that sufficient control measures have been put in place to protect both firefighters and the neighboring community from any danger, and request that residents please stay at a safe distance away from the training operation.

Residents with any questions or concerns can contact the SRVFPD Training Division at 989-6348 or
