San Ramon Chamber of Commerce seeks members to serve on Board of Directors

Six members needed to help guide San Ramon Valley business community

Business owners in the San Ramon Valley looking for an opportunity to take a leadership role in the local business community are in luck because the San Ramon Chamber of Commerce is in need of members to serve on its Board of Directors.

Six members are needed to serve on the Board of Directors, which according to chamber board member Terence N. Church, terms out one-third of its members every year in order to make room for fresh leadership and new ideas.

“The San Ramon Chamber of Commerce is a vital fixture in San Ramon dedicated to the enhancement of commerce and business in the City and the Tri-Valley area,” Church said in a statement. “The Chamber cannot perform these important services without the active support and participation of its members. It is its membership that makes the Chamber relevant and successful.”

As a leader of the San Ramon Valley business community, members on the Board of Directors are tasked with setting policies that will help guide the chamber, offering members the opportunity to directly influence their local business environment.

Board members are also required to serve three-year terms, attend monthly board meetings and occasionally attend chamber retreats.

In order to be nominated for the position no previous board experience is required, but applicants must be members in good standing with the San Ramon Chamber of Commerce, be willing to attend each monthly board meeting and have an interest in actively participating in chamber events.

Nominations are due at the end of October and will be followed by a vetting of candidates by sitting board members. After the vetting process is completed chamber members will receive an online election “ballot” from the board and have the opportunity to vote for their six favorite candidates.

The election will open from Nov. 1 through Nov. 15, with the newly elected Board members set to be announced at the Annual "Business and Community Awards Dinner" on Dec. 4, at the Bridges Golf Club, 9000 S Gale Ridge Road.

To nominate a member of the San Ramon Chamber of Commerce for its Board of Directors, individuals are encouraged to email Stewart Bambino at Candidates can also be written in on the online ballot.
