SRVUSD board to talk future bond measure, parcel tax planning during workshop

Special meeting scheduled for 5 p.m. Monday in Danville

The San Ramon Valley Unified School District Board of Education will be meeting for a special workshop on Monday evening to discuss future general obligation bond and parcel tax planning.

According to SRVUSD spokesperson Elizabeth Graswich, during Monday’s meeting staff will provide the board with an update on the potential “next generation local funding initiatives,” which can include placing a new general obligation bond authorization or parcel tax on an upcoming ballot.

A conversation continued from the district’s June 7 workshop, district staff have mused that future investments could be used to support staff housing, modernization projects or various other new school facilities.

An informational workshop, after presenting board members with potential options on how to proceed, staff will seek guidance on next steps.

The SRVUSD board is set to gather for the special workshop on Monday at 5 p.m. in the district offices, 699 Old Orchard Drive in Danville.

We already see so many bonds on our property tax. It just seems like we are already getting over taxed at every turn. With the excellent incomes in this area it seems that there should already be enough revenue. I'd rather prioritize these initiatives along with other existing spending initiatives. Perhaps reduce other spending if this is more important now.

Mr. Pursey,
Your property tax is being redistributed. State school funding is a patchwork that has historically not done a lot for SRVUSD. The cogs in State wheels are discouragingly complicated. Generous donations from the community continually prop up our schools. Delve into the politics of school funding and you'll certainly get a headache trying to sort it out.

On a local level, we might be able to respectfully SUGGEST that the district be accountable for waste and foolishness. You also might want to take a look at administrative salaries and perks.
