5-acre grass fire burns east of Blackhawk

 

A two-alarm vegetation fire off Johnston Road in the Tassajara area east of Blackhawk in unincorporated Contra Costa County was contained at about five acres, firefighters said Saturday night.

No injuries were reported in the blaze, in the 6300 block of Johnston Road, was first reported at 6:54 p.m. Saturday. The San Ramon Valley and Alameda County fire departments, along with Cal Fire, contained the blaze before it damaged any structures.

Fire crews were at the scene for the next few hours doing mop-up work. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
