A 4.5-magnitude earthquake struck the Bay Area on Monday night, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The quake struck at 10:33 p.m. and was centered 2.2 miles north of Walnut Creek.
Police in Oakland, Pleasant Hill and Martinez said shortly after the quake that they had received no reports of any injuries or damage.
Contra Costa County Sheriff David Livingston said on Twitter at 11:22 p.m. that no one has called the sheriff’s office to report being injured or to report damage.
Sheriff’s officials are checking their facilities, Livingston said.
BART officials and officials with the Capitol Corridor train system were checking their tracks following the temblor.
No tsunami threat was expected due to the earthquake, according to the National Weather Service.
