Alamo Rotary to host tree-lighting celebration

Annual event to feature musical entertainment, special appearance by Santa

Residents in Alamo will have their own special tree-lighting ceremony to kick off the holiday season, a celebration that will once again be sponsored by the Alamo Rotary Club.

Set to be held on Sunday (Dec. 8), the free-to-attend celebration will also feature a collection of musical performances from local schools and a special appearance by Santa Claus.

Scheduled groups set to participate include The Stone Valley Jazz Band, The Athenian School Capella Choir, Alamo School Music Group, San Ramon Valley High School Chamber Singers and the Monte Vista Choir.

Rotary members have asked residents who are able to help offset the costs of staging the activities and consider making a donation to the club.

“Donations can be made out to the Alamo Rotary Foundation (a not-for-profit organization - Tax ID#77-0600752), can be sent to 1005 McCauley Road Danville, CA 94526,” Rotary officials said in a statement.

The Alamo tree-lighting celebration will be held Dec. 8, 4:30-6:30 p.m. at Oak Tree Plaza, 3000 Danville Blvd., in Alamo.
