Tri-Valley residents looking to start off the month of December with a healthy and fun activity are in luck because the city of San Ramon is once again hosting its annual Bah Humbug! 5K Run/Walk.

Set to be held on Dec. 7, runners -- who are strongly encouraged to participate while dressed in their best holiday themed costumes -- will be taken on a route through the city with the starting and ending point located at the San Ramon Central Park Community Center.

While participants are welcome to run at their own pace, medals will be given out to the first three finishers in each age division for the run, with awards set to be handed out after the final age group winner crosses the finish line.

Those who finish in the top three spots of their age group will also be placed in contention for the Mayor’s Crown, which combines the times of the 2019 Bah Humbug! and 2020 Run San Ramon race -- the Mayor’s Crown recipient will be honored during a special ceremony after the 2020 Run San Ramon on July 4, 2020.

Plus, all registered participants will receive a holiday long sleeved t-shirt and the famous Bah Humbug! Ornament -- shirts and ornaments are only guaranteed to pre-registered participants.

Bibs and shirts will be available for pick up at Sports Basement San Ramon located at 1041 Market Place on Dec. 6, from 2 to 8 p.m. -- plus registered runners will receive a 20% off coupon at Sports Basement on race day.

Participants are also invited to limber up and join the staff from Shred 415 San Ramon for a pre-run session at the community center starting at 8:40 a.m.

New to 2019’s holiday fun run is the Kid’s Dash, a 1K course which will run through portions of Central Park and is available for children aged four to nine years old. Volunteers will be located along the route to help keep them safe and cheer them on, but parents are welcome to accompany their child on the course.

The Kid’s Dash will also be held at the San Ramon Community Center, and costs $15 through Dec. 1 and $20 thereafter. All participants will also receive a holiday long sleeved t-shirt and Bah Humbug! Ornament.

The Bah Humbug! 5K will be held on Dec. 7 at 9 a.m. and start and finish at the San Ramon Central Park Community Center, 12501 Alcosta Blvd. The Kid’s Dash starts at 8:20 a.m. Residents can register for the race online, adult fees cost $40 through Dec. 1 and $50 after. Runners 18 years old and younger can sign up for $30 through Dec. 1 and $40 after.

We need your support now more than ever. Can we count on you?
