Danville to select new mayor and vice mayor after community service awards

38th annual Mayor’s Installation & Community Service Awards to be held at the Village Theatre and Art Gallery, Dec. 3.

The town of Danville is all set to select its new mayor and present community service awards to its exemplary community members in one big night this week, with the return of the 38th annual Mayor’s Installation and Community Service Awards.

Set to be held Tuesday at the Village Theatre and Art Gallery in downtown Danville, attendees will get to witness the annual awards ceremony that honors a select few Danville residents who will be honored for their contributions to the town.

Following the awards and swearing-in ceremonies, the Town Council will follow a yearly tradition and collectively select who among them will become Danville’s mayor and vice mayor for 2020.

Currently, Robert Storer serves as Danville’s mayor while Karen Stepper serves as its vice mayor. In years past the council has traditionally selected the acting vice mayor to serve as the coming year’s new mayor, although that final decision has not yet been announced.

The San Ramon Valley High School choir will also make a return appearance to serenade attendees with holiday classics during the Meet and Greet held prior to the start of the award ceremony.

The ceremony will be held at the Village Theatre & Art Gallery, 233 Front Street, Tuesday starting at 6:30 p.m. After the festivities, residents are invited to a reception set to be held at the Art Gallery, where light refreshments will be served.
