SRVUSD seeks residents to volunteer on Facilities Oversight and Advisory Committee

Volunteers to help Board of Education plan future facilities projects

The San Ramon Valley Unified School District Board of Education is looking for residents who can help them plan the district’s future facility and infrastructure needs by volunteering on its Facilities Oversight and Advisory Committee (FOAC).

Primarily tasked with advising the Board of Education on a variety of financial and facility based issues, FOAC offers residents the opportunity to participate in the process of reviewing school facilities and helping district officials plan for the future.

According to district officials, FOAC members will be tasked with the following responsibilities:

*Provide oversight of Measure D facilities bond projects and expenditures.

*Review and advise on current and future SRVUSD facilities and master plans and provide recommendations to the Board and district management on the priority of implementation.

*Review the yearly Measure D financial and performance audits.

*Submit an annual report to the Board of Education.

*Review and advise on district standards and long term maintenance of all facilities.

*Review and advise on the development of a comprehensive list of facilities priorities that would Require additional revenue sources.

*Review and advise on solutions for the proper protection of the community’s investment in maintenance of school facilities.

Consisting of at least seven members, commissioners will meet at least four times a year, serve without compensation for at least one two-year term, and will serve no more than three consecutive terms.

In an effort to ensure that FOAC is staffed with commissioners who possess a wide variety of skills and knowledge, district officials will seek applicants who are active in the following areas:

*One member shall be active in a business organization representing the business community.

*One member shall be active in a senior citizens’ organization

*One member shall be active in a bona fide taxpayers’ organization.

*One member shall be a parent or guardian of a child enrolled in the school district and active in a parent-teacher organization, such as the Parent Teacher Association or school site council.

Applications are due no later than Thursday (Dec. 12), and are available on the school district’s website or can be picked up in person at the SRVUSD Ed Center, 699 Old Orchard Drive, Danville.
