Business Briefs: McGah's closing after sale in Danville; new Trader Joe's in San Ramon

McGah’s last call

After nearly a decade of providing Danville with games, sports and beer, McGah’s Pub & Pianos is issuing its final last call and will be shutting its doors for good in mid-March.

Located in the heart of Danville on 148 E Prospect Ave., McGah’s has been acquired by a new owner -- who owns Tommy T's Comedy Club in Pleasanton -- who plans to rebrand the restaurant as Players Pub & Pianos, which will still offer a sports venue and dueling piano bar.

McGah’s hosted a special "Final Farewell Party" last Saturday as a last hurrah, but residents still have the chance to say goodbye to the old place before new management takes over in March.

San Ramon-based medical real estate developer Meridian announced its purchase of 1.15 acres in Santa Cruz County earlier this month, land that the company intends to develop into a 11,424-square-foot outpatient ambulatory clinic.

Including the cost of land acquisition, the ground-up development project cost is estimated to come out to about $10 million, with construction expected to commence in April of this year with completion slated for January 2021.

The clinic will be located at 58 Hanger Way and 5 Neilson Street directly adjacent to the Watsonville Community Hospital and the Watsonville Hospital ER, and will house up to 36 hemodialysis stations when completed.

Meridian officials say the developer has a “healthy development pipeline ahead for 2020” and is actively looking to partner with healthcare providers for more real estate opportunities throughout California, the Pacific Northwest and the Southwest.
