Hot Summer Sunday car show

Organizers, officials and classic car aficionados are gearing up for the return of Danville's annual Hot Summer Sundays car show this weekend.

While online registration to showcase vehicles among the hundreds of classic and rare cars that take to the streets of downtown Danville for the popular annual event is closed, organizers are encouraging participants to take advantage of same-day registration and the anticipation of plenty of room.

In addition to the main event – cars – vendors and musicians are set to round out the offerings with food, beverage, and entertainment options throughout the day.

Priority staging for pre-registered vehicles is scheduled for 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. this Sunday (Sept 10) outside San Ramon Valley High School at 501 Danville Blvd., with same-day registrants invited for staging starting at 9 a.m. The show is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. along Hartz and Prospect avenues in downtown Danville. Suicide prevention forum

Contra Costa Health is marking Suicide Prevention Week with a forum on the topic Wednesday (Sept. 13), in the middle of the awareness week that kicks off on Sunday (Sept. 10) and is recognized through Sept. 17.

"Contra Costa Health recognizes the importance of suicide prevention and aims to foster awareness, inspire positive action, and bring together individuals who are passionate about mental health," organizers wrote in an announcement.

The event is scheduled from 2-5 p.m. in Vicente Martinez High School at 925 Susana St. in Martinez.

Veterans' service animals

The next installment of "Veterans Voices" on Contra Costa Television is set to feature the voices of veterans – as it does every second Monday of the month – with special guest appearances from their service animals.

This month's episode is set to consist of a panel discussion about the bond between veterans and service and emotional support animals, with guests including Marine Corps veteran Joe Moreno and his emotional support dog Valor, as well as Navy Veteran and his service dog Eagle, plus representatives from the American Humane Society and the organization K9's for Warriors.

The live broadcast is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Monday (Sept. 11) on CCTV and a Facebook page for the program, during which viewers are invited to call in with questions or comments at 925-313-1170.

Alamo Women's Club clothing drive

The Alamo Women's Club is preparing for a curbside clothing drive and fundraiser this month aimed at supporting survivors of domestic violence.

The "Together we Give" drive is hosted in partnership with AWC and the Grateful Garment Project, which aims to replace clothing domestic violence survivors give up as evidence for court proceedings.

Organizers are inviting donations of newly purchased, unworn clothing for men, women, and children in all sizes at 1401 Danville Blvd. in Alamo from 1-6 p.m. on Sept 21.

San Ramon chorus revue

The San Ramon Community Chorus is preparing for a free public performance on Friday (Sept. 15), with a musical revue that is set to be one of the first for the newly renovated Dougherty Valley Community Arts Center.

The show is set to kick off at 7 p.m. in the Front Row Theater at the arts center at 10550 Albion Road in San Ramon.
