Danville police arrested four East County teens late Tuesday night, alleging the quartet tried to evade authorities after stealing from a local supermarket.
Brallan Vasquez, Patrick Alba-Crocker, Santos Zarate and Jonathan Razon — all 19-year-olds from Bay Point — were taken into custody on suspicion of burglary, battery, conspiracy and resisting arrest, according to Danville town spokesman Geoff Gillette.
The situation began just before 10:30 p.m. Tuesday when police received a report of people stealing from the Lucky grocery store on San Ramon Valley Boulevard, Gillette said.
Four people ran out of the store — pushing a stranger on their way — and drove away from the scene in a van, according to Gillette. The person who was pushed was not injured.
A Danville police officer soon found the van on El Cerro Boulevard near Interstate 680, but when the officer tried to pull the van over, the driver refused to yield, Gillette said. The officer pursued the van until the occupants abandoned it on nearby Rose Street and attempted to run away.
Vasquez, Alba-Crocker and Zarate were caught without incident, but Razon got hurt when he fell several feet while trying to hide in a nearby creek, Gillette said. Razon received treatment for minor injuries at John Muir Medical Center while the other three were taken directly to the Martinez Detention Facility, Gillette added.

Due to the law that we the stupid people voted for on behalf of Gov. Brown we will see more and more of this. When will people learn when you become soft on crime you provide incentive for more crime. The risk reward now favors the criminals.
Please for all of our sake if you voted for this law never vote again as you are simply too naive to vote on matters that impact the rest of us.

The right wingers are predictably using this routine theft report to bleat out their ideologically-required insistence that we are experiencing a crime wave – and it’s all the fault of democrats or recent reforms of the criminal sentencing laws.
Reality check: Crime rates in Danville, Contra Costa County, California and the nation as a whole in recent years are at or near their lowest points in the past 40 years – about half the number of crimes per 1,000 population compared to what they were when the Boomers were in their prime criminal years – the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s.

You are aware many crimes are not even reported because we know without video evidence the cops will take a report but will not investigate right? Sign up for the app next door sometime to read from real neighbors (yes they actually use their names) about crime here in Danville.The truth is stealing from a car will not warrant jail time so there is really no risk as far as a criminal sees it. Ask the police how this new law is working here in Danville.

My God, what a bunch or horrible adults. I have seen far too many hateful adults slinging mud on this site, name calling, grouping all people in one city as though they are all bad…what is wrong with you? Do you not recall when one of our own San Ramon residents pulled a gun on the police in a local 7-11, causing the poor cop to have to shoot him? Do you not recall the man from Danville arrested for trafficking young girls in Windemere? The two year old boy who just died because a Pleasanton woman was drunk while driving? The layers and layers of embezzlement, DUI’s, drug convictions, all in our own community? JUST STOP the name calling and wanting to jump on the Lord of the Flies, Burn them at the stake name-calling already. For God’s sake, if they locked my daughter up and threw away the key for the time she and her boyfriend tried to steal a can of beer at Luckys, she wouldn’t be a high paid CPA Assistant in Silicone Valley right now, paying her share of taxes. How much crime is acceptable to you? How much crime is acceptable in your neighborhood? How about how much crime is ok if you or a loved one was a victim? What kind message are you sending by downplaying your daughter stealing alcohol from Lucky’s? What if it was a mom & pop bodega she stole from, is that ok? What if the grocer had a heart attack or stroke not knowing if your daughter had a weapon on her? What if the police officer saw her make a sudden movement and in self defense had to draw his gun? What if he accidentally shot an innocent bystander?
Yes, no one is perfect, and all our kids make mistake, bad youthful decisions. But very few kids actually steal alcohol from a store. She obviously was not taught right from wrong by you, and your confusing liberal views that downplay crime. Who cares if she is an assistant to a CPA now in liberal valley? What does that mean in the big picture? Has she ever learned right from wrong? If not than don’t be surprised when she is arrested for embezzlement or some other crime. But she won’t worry, because her liberal mom will blame Republicans, Trump, lack of raises for teachers, etc etc for her behavior, when the real cause was her mom not teaching her right from wrong!

I think what you are trying to say is crime is everywhere and sone by everyone. This is true at face value but misses a much larger fact. Not all people commit crime at the same rate. I am sure you trust the federal government to help us all undersatnd that. Shall we then use DOJ decades long stats to guide us?

Are you aware of the race of the killer of the SRVHS student shot in the Greenbrook area a few years ago. I can go case after case if you wish but bigger picture is Blacks make up rougly 13% of the national population yet year in year out make up for ~40% + of violent crime. This is not polite PC conversation but this is fact.
You do know the race of the mobs that held up BART (not the first time btw) a few weeks ago. Yes all races commit crime but there is much in the detail as well including far more males commit violent crime.
No crime comes to Danville. Oh wait shots fired at Costco. I am sure the Amish are at fault yet again.
