A masked man with a gun walked into a San Ramon Walgreens store and stole opioid medication Wednesday morning before fleeing the area, according to San Ramon police.

Police said the robber entered the store located at 21001 San Ramon Valley Blvd. at about 8:03 a.m. He walked over to the pharmacist counter and put a black, semi-automatic handgun on the counter, along with a demand note for Buprenorphine, an opioid used to treat opioid addiction and pain.

He took several bottles of Buprenorphine, worth over $300, according to police.

The unidentified culprit was described as a white man between 20 and 30 years old, standing between 5’7″ and 5’8″ and weighing about 190-200 pounds, according to San Ramon police. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a gray beanie, dark sweatshirt, black pants, white shoes and a blue surgical mask that covered most of his face. He left the Walgreens on foot.
