The San Ramon Planning Commission is set to discuss the language it uses to address certain topics when it reviews an appeal of the city zoning director’s interpretation of the term “accessory structure” Tuesday evening.
According to a report by city staff, the owner of 118 Mills Place in San Ramon has filed the appeal, contesting the director’s determination that a storage shed — which is design modified not configured to also function as a trailer — remains an accessory structure under city zoning regulations.
City staff have requested that the Planning Commission use the opportunity to clarify language and close any potential loopholes in the city’s zoning ordinance.
“It was not possible for the drafters of the zoning ordinance to foresee all possible circumstances that might be subject to its provisions, so it is critical to have the mechanism for official interpretations to resolve unforeseen ambiguities or potential loopholes,” city planning division manager Lauren Barr wrote in a staff report.
The commission will hold its regular meeting Tuesday 7 p.m., at San Ramon City Hall, 7000 Bollinger Canyon Road, inside of the Council Chambers.
