Blackhawk Plaza car burglar in custody

Original post made on Dec 23, 2009

Police recovered some stolen goods last night and today are calling victims to say they have their purses, cameras and cell phones, for a Merry Christmas. They arrested the suspect on charges of possession of stolen property, so he may be spending his holidays in the Martinez Detention Facility.

Good Job DPD! Now, I'll be waiting for the negative comments from the same few about the Danville cops and how there's no crime around here. I say, job well done.

Look at all the help they had to have for one criminal!

And you want low income housing?

Kudos to the PD for 'getting their man.'

As for low-income housing... welcome to being an incorporated city in CA (or anywhere in the USA). That's just one of the many requirements pressed upon the cities by the state.

Unincorporated areas aren't completely immune, but on this issue are better able to fend off the march of progress.

Great police work and great comments by our truly concerned citizens.

Any time you see anyone these days walking around a parking lot and window shopping...call the police, better safe than sorry.

Happy Christmas Eve to all..

My prior comments were cut. And all I talked about was Egyptian history :)

Great job Danville PD! I actually enjoyed reading the article - there must be some sort of list of dumbest criminals that this guy might find himself on. He ditches his car which is full of stolen property when being trailed by the police, then later reports it stolen and goes to the police department to pick it up?! Come on!

Merry/Happy whatever (if anything) you celebrate to all.

What's your beef Greg? Did you get a ticket or something from the mean ol' Danville cops? The police log in San Ramon has become quite busy compared to before the city's population exploded to the east while Danville seems to keep things more under control. I'm sure if you give DPD your name and address, they'll ignore your calls for help when you really need them. Otherwise, get a clue that most of us are tired of your whining about the cops. We get it. You're unhappy when they do their job and unhappy when they don't. Give it a rest.

Good job, Danville Police as always. Why do people leave their purses, cell phones, and cameras in their car when they leave their car to go shopping or other places even for a minute. They are asking for trouble. I am happy the items were found, but please, people, don't invite burglary by leaving valuable items in your car...even for a short while.
Merry Christmas to all, especially to our police departments

I am so proud of our police department. I moved here three years ago and is still as safe as when I arrived. Thanks to our DPD!

Hey George.........I am entitled to express my feelings. I am in law enforcement and I know a good department when I see one. And no, I have never gotten a ticket from DPD and I will take care of my own problems should their be another one. I have already stopped someone from breaking into my neighbors home while they were away. I think there is more for them to do than sit up in Magee Ranch and wait for someone to not come to a complete stop at a stop sign. Thats ONE of my "beefs" you need to wory about your own police dept.

Danville is safe, just as it was before there was a DPD. No change since DPD as close as I can see.

George must be a dpd cop..........i agree with you Greg, WE need a leader and we need some fresh blood in this town. I have no problem with the fire district either!

Think about it!

Sorry Greg and Steve,

I'm not a Danville cop, I'm an electrical contractor. Greg, if you're "in law enforcement" I find it very hard to believe you would slam your brothers in a public forum. That is unless your a security guard or meter maid. I believe a true cop would have the balls to go talk to the Danville chief man to man and express his concerns. If you guys have been paying attention the last few years, San Ramon has it's own dept now. We're stuck with who we hire. At least while Danville and San Ramon were/are contracts, Steve, with the Sheriff we got fresh blood all the time and weren't stuck if an officer went on disability. Greg, from your earlier comments I think you must work for a super department that catches everybody that runs away from you everytime. I'm encouraged that Danville called in the extra resources to go after a measley car burglar instead of kissing it off. I guess my glass is half full and yours is empty. You don't sound like you'd cut anybody any slack. As I said said ealier, most REAL cops, doctors, lawyers, etc. etc. would never criticize there own in a public forum. We read the police logs here. There is crime and unless you come from the perfect crime free area and complaint free department, I wish you'd give us all a break with your whining about the Danville cops, most of which rotate though on a 3-4 year basis, and go talk to the chief about specifics.

George.....I think you have been shocked too many times. You don't know if I have talked to anybody. You are right the danville cops are great and you know everything. I should have known you were a contractor! That says it all.

Mary, I'm a bit tired of condescending people like yourself who constantly try to blame victims by giving us pedantic advice, much like this paper. It's not our fault when our car is burglarized if we left some stuff in our car. That's like saying, well she wouldn't have been raped if she wore prude clothing. No! Listen, we wanna live in a town where we don't have to watch our back every second because creeps from Oakland are stalking around. And, here's the thing, much of what was burglarized were gifts. I've heard the same talking points from all liberal channels, that we are fools who are asking to be robbed when we leave some gifts in our car. I guess they wanted us to buy something at only one place and then drive immediately home to drop it off. What a bunch of crap

Nice Greg! Now you insult contractors. Any other professions you want to slam while you're at it? You sound like a very unhappy person, mad at the world. What ever "law enforcement" your in, I bet the citizens love your wonderful attitude. I know wasting my time debating with you has been extremely uplifting and joyful personally. Have a nice life while I'm busy shocking myself.

Cuz it says so in the article you numbskull. And saying the truth is always racist, because the word racist itself means nothing. It's the hollow cry of those who don't want people telling the truth

Gunslinger/Rick: now both sides of your personality are posting their rhetoric simultaneously? The world just gets scarier and scarier.

Victor - thanks for bringing this back to the original thread. There are ways to reduce the likelihood of being victimized, but the reality is that no one/nowhere is completely immune.

Great job DPD...thank you. I have seen nothing but excellence in the DPD in my interactions with them as a crime victim and as a citizen. Another job well done.

As for Danville being some utopia where one doesn't need to exercise common sense, that's absurd. Stick your packages out of site if you're in the middle of shopping for crying out loud.

How does one accomplish keeping criminals out of the community without becoming a police state?

I am thrilled to hear that someone was finally caught. The Shops have been a target for years. We were victims a few years ago and no one has been caught. Our car window was broken, and items stolen including credit cards. We all pay when someone is victimized!

I more than anyone am against a police state. But we are already living in tyranny, with the government forcing criminals into our community via group homes and section 8 housing marketed in Oakland. And then the liberals say we're racist if we wish to call a spade a spade

Yes, thank you DPD, which recovered many of my stolen items from this guy's house. Among other valuable but replaceable things, the DPD got back one of my most treasured and irreplaceable things--my wedding ring.
