Dear Emily,
Thank you for correcting the story to illustrate that an alleged crime had been committed.
In this morning's e-exchanges local criminal counsel noted that the story reflects a police force trying to build evident for a case by seeking more women who might claim to be victims. At present, if only the claims of one alleged victim, without witnesses, is the basis of the case, counsel expects the DA in Yolo County to toss the case.

All crimes involving any kind of sex crime should be fully investigated. The victims deserve it.

Wow never would have expected this to happen to Pierce... kid back in highschool was really on the right path.... shocking to hear this happen but at same time if DA does have evidence he did do this he deserves to be locked up for a good amount of time..... I am a guy and I believe every women deserves to feel safe and not feel threatened or taken advantage of especially when it come to anything sexual..... I hope pierce will learn a good lesson

Guilty until proven innocent. Is this what our media has become? This young man is being investigated. No charges have been drawn. Yet his picture is posted like a Wanted poster. Not saying he is innocent or guilty. But a little more responsibility on the media's part is needed, Danville Express. If he is guilty, it will be proven and he will be punished for this terrible crime. If he is not, a young man's life has been severely damaged. Can't you just wait until then?

Sparkles i 100 percent agree its unfair to post an article or have his picture posted since it is still an investigation, If he is to be innocent his image is already tarnished since most people know the situation or have heard through the grapevine

I don't see too many smiling booking photos unless he's that hardcore. And based on the article, he was arrested, so yes, it's public information. The hypocrites here are entertaining. Suppose instead of Mr. Hunter, this was one of the kids from the group homes everybody loves to hate. Would you all be rushing to his defense? Didn't think so.

Well Longtime resident, the boy from the group home was involved in a murder! His picture was not plastered in his hometown paper. Why is this news and why is in it our paper here? It just seems unnecessary to ruin a family and the boys reputation. How will it change our life to know this about this kid or his family? It is just journalism's sick way to engage us.

Freckles, I can just imagine you saying "boy" in your best southern accent. You hit the nail on the head probably without even realizing it - the murder suspect is a juvenile. The law prevents his identity from being released. If he was an adult or if he was charged as such, I assure you his photo would've been shown. Why is this news? Sexual assault is a felony (ie one of those serious crimes that you go to prison for a long time.) It seems unnecessary to ruin his reputation? Which reputation is that, his reputation as a rapist? Afraid he won't be able to get a date? Perhaps you'd allow your daughter to date him? I guess you just prefer the good old boy system - boys will be boys and sweep it under the rug?

Alan, it isn't just the "victims" that deserve that the crimes be fully investigated. The accused deserve it, too:
"Politically correct feminists claim false rape accusations are rare and account for only 2 percent of all reports. Men's rights sites point to research that places the rate as high as 41 percent. These are wildly disparate figures that cannot be reconciled...
A 1996 study published by the U.S. Department of Justice: Convicted by Juries, Exonerated by Science: Case Studies in the Use of DNA Evidence to Establish Innocence After Trial.
The study documents 28 cases which, "with the exception of one young man of limited mental capacity who pleaded guilty," consist of individuals who were convicted by juries and, then, later exonerated by DNA tests.
At the time of release, they had each served an average of 7 years in prison.
Peter Neufeld and Barry C. Scheck, prominent criminal attorneys and co-founders of the Innocence Project that seeks to release those falsely imprisoned...stated, "Every year since 1989, in about 25 percent of the sexual assault cases referred to the FBI where results could be obtained, the primary suspect has been excluded by forensic DNA testing. Specifically, FBI officials report that out of roughly 10,000 sexual assault cases since 1989, about 2,000 tests have been inconclusive, about 2,000 tests have excluded the primary suspect, and about 6,000 have "matched" or included the primary suspect."

Innocent until proven guilty. He is being investigated. Doesn't ever look good when someone is being charged with a crime, but under the law, he is still innocent until he is proven otherwise.
If he is found guilty, I hope he serves time and learns a lesson. Men and women need to feel safe and secure, not being threatened from sexual or physical abuse.

I would think in order to actually arrest a person the police must have clear evidence or strong grounds to do so. Also, there must be a reason, I hope, why they are looking for other victims to the degree they have publicly announced it in the media. I would hope they would not try to hang someone without reasonable suspicion. You never know but you have to feel sorry for the victim. After all, besides being victimized they're also being scrutinized.

If the cops arrested him he must be guilty, right?

Ever hear of reasonable cause? FYI rape is a violent crime--that means physical injury.

Obviously, they put this story in hoping if there are any other victims that they'll step forward ...color photo,c'mon. I hope the Danville Express will be responsible enough to follow up on this story. Being ARRESTED and being CONVICTED are NOT the same thing but, you can't stop people from drawing their own conclusions. Hopefully people will judged him on his own merit. Whatever the outcome I hope the Justice System gets it right.

None of you know the story...you think you know these two people, but you don't...the media has just set up a story for publicity...the story is very well true and all, but there are several things that have not been posted within this article that have to do with the case...so most of you have no idea what you're talking about...you must have a warrant for an arrest and to get a warrant you must have probable cause, so obviously there was probable cause because he was arrested...duh. the guy needs to get some serious help. its unfortunate that it happened, but it did and the only thing anyone can do now is implement punishment on the accused if he is proven guilty.

I was directly involved in the case and knew both the victim and Pierce. At this point in time during the case Mr. Hunter had admitted to sexually assualting the victim. This information was not given to the press during this time.
