Although I am a Detroit Tigers fan and I'm glad they moved on to play in the ALCS and possibly World Series, I take my hat off to the A's total body of work this season. In effect, it was "Moneyball II", even better, as they had no real "stars" beginning the season and played a ton of rookies, unlike the original Moneyball team. Without question, Bob Melvin deserves the AL MOY award, or at least share it with Buck Showalter who did virtually the same thing with the nearly always irrelevant Orioles.

I was at those wild ALDS games 3 & 4, and though my team didn't win those, just being there to witness the ear-shattering crowd noise and high theatre of those 2 games will resonate with me for a long time. Unfortunately, I had to be out of town to see Verlander take control and win game 5, but those other 2 games will live on in my baseball memories regardless of the score. Without question, their story is the team story in sports this year (maybe they will win an ESPY). I think the A's fans will be jacked up for the 2013 season, to say the least. What a great series it was!
