SRV girls' soccer finishes No. 5 in the nation

San Ramon Valley High's Lady Wolves received a national ranking trophy from MaxPreps and Army National Guard on April 19. SRVHS was one of just 10 schools being honored after being ranked No. 5 by MaxPreps Freeman Poll, which ranks more than 10,000 high school girls soccer teams nationwide.

Wow -- congrats to the team! As someone who was on a state championship HS track team long ago and far away, I can say that the sense of pride in the sustained effort and teamwork that culminated in this accomplishment will last these young women far into their futures.

One question: If we must be gender-specific, "She-Wolves" sounds much fiercer than Lady Wolves. Can't we at least call 'em She-Wolves? Sounds like they've earned it!
