District approves design for new elementary school

The new school is projected to open in fall 2015 and will be housed on a 7.4 acre site located approximately one half-mile southwest of the Dougherty Station Community Center and Library. The as-yet unnamed elementary will accommodate approximately 830 kindergarten through 5th grade students.

School name ideas? Maybe Ira Einhorn the creator of Earth Day who is in prison for murdering his Gf. Maybe Karanga a 3 time felon and creator of "Kwaanza."
Perhaps Ayers School--weather underground urban terrorist and friend of Obama. Trend??

You crack me up.

The other day, I was looking at a bronze plaque at the main entrance to my kid’s school. It had a quote from somebody like Nelson Mandela or some such.

I thought about how when I was growing up, they used to have plaques with quotes by George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, etc. They even used to name schools after those guys. But seems like they’ve stopped doing that nowadays. Maybe because they were a bunch of racists?

So we are taking an article on a new school being built and again turning it into another forum for right wing hate speech. Always a fun time on the Danville Express. I think the editors should just create the first comment with every article blaming Obama if it is a bad news story and claiming Obama would have screwed it up if he had been involved if it is a good news story. It would save time.

In todays news it is clear that Obama was involved in the bank robbery in Pleasanton and the Oxycodene robbery. Also I am sure the left and Obama would have turned the Devil Mountain Run into a socialist convention if they had their way and would have taxed runners for running past Primo's. I also heard Obama personally tried to erect a toll booth where the runners entered the Iron Horse Trail.

We always have knee jerk reactions when we see jerks post (and yes I am sure in your mind you have already classified that as hate speech) .

The fact that the right seems to find time to turn even the most mundane things into some sort opportunity to rail against Obama and paint him as a socialist (which if you ever took the time to learn what a socialist is you would would realize that he sure isn't) is pretty pathetic. It is why this country is struggling so much, cause the right spends time complaining and not helping.

My suggestion for the school name is SRVUSD folly. Taxpayer Swindle also has a nice ring to it. After all, Shapell Homes got away without having to pay for the school and we taxpayers are left to ante up the cash (pass a bond measure) in the end.

Wow, Tom! You are obviously drinking the Kool Aid! Do you not watch the news? Do you pay attention? Have you been hiding under a rock all these years?

Of course, Obama is a Socialist! Redistribution of wealth is a Socialist agenda. He is NOT a Capitalist. America was founded on the principles of personal responsibility. He is a divider NOT a uniter.

You are right, anyone who raises taxes is redistrubuting wealth and therefore must be a socialist or communist. I wish I was as educated as you and could identify those socialists/communists like 11 time tax increaser Ronald Reagan or No new taxes George Bush Sr. In fact I think that Reagan guy must have been the most venal kind of communist. After all not only did he raise taxes 11 times he did such un American things like restrict gun ownership as both President of the USA and as Governor of California. He was clearly the worst kind of commie, going after our guns and such. Quite the duck wasn't he. And don't get me started on that last commie President George Bush Jr, After all gave those pesky seniors free prescription drugs and had the government make health care decisions for people like Terry Schiavo.

Mike, you obviously didn't read the article or no nothing about socialism because Obama IS a socialist leader. Our rights are being stripped from us as we speak as the President with the help of Congress push their evil and selfish agendas.

Please do yourselves a favor and read the full article to the link I posted. I realize it's long, but hopefully with your public school education you can read (assuming you graduated). Of course, if you were young and a recent "graduate" then the likelihood that you could read is about 76 percent if you're an Asian student, 69 percent of white students, 53 percent of Hispanic students, 55 percent of Native American students and 38 percent of African-American students are at or above their grade level reading standards.

I realize this pertains to Florida schools, but the message is still the same. Our education system is obviously failing us and if you're happy with what Mr. Obama is doing in treating us all the same (except for race and wealth) and restricting our individual liberties then you'd be happy living under his rule and should maybe go try living in China or Russia to see how wonderful socialism is. Let's be real. Socialism does NOT work.

Thanks to the U.S. government for ensuring our children can't read, can't compete in the global market, have run up the national deficit to an unsustainable almost unrepairable limit, and are systematically taking away our rights. The government systems are all broken - education, social security, prisons, ObamaCare (not even implemented, but already broke and paying millions to insurance companies), postal service, etc. What do we have to show for all these wonderful services? A national debt that will crush us under it's mass.

I believe everyone is BORN with unalienable rights as granted to us by our Creator. I believe it's time to educate our children of their Constitutional rights and empower them to be individuals because it's certainly not taught in schools. The government doesn't give us our rights. We are born with them. They should remain protected under the 9th Amendment.

When push comes to shove, the system is going to fail. I mean, really. What comes after a trillion? Our deficit will crush the global economy and America will continue to fall from grace as we have been. This is precisely what Mr. Obama wants. He wants to break America and then rebuild it into his socialist eutopia. Mark my words. Things are only going to get worse under Obama's socialist rule until people wake up and realize we deserve better and can do a better job ourselves. We have the power within us to drive positive change. I am not going down without a fight and am tired of conforming to others expectations as mandated by the government and their laws. The American spirit burns bright within me and I will not surrender my individuality (or my children's) to conform to the group.

Since my grandmother on my mother side was born in Japan , my grandfather on my mother side was born in Mexico , my grandmother on my father's side was born in Kenya and my grandfather on my father's side was Native American I could only read 55.5% of the words you just wrote (and most them were words my mother's mother taught me). Perhaps country-western songwriting may be a calling for you to consider.

Just two questions, given that our country has survived through 44 very different men of significantly different ideologies (Federalists, Whigs, Democrats, Republicans), creeds (Masons, Deists, Protestants, Catholics, etc.), and broadly variant historical periods (18th century Georgian & colonial era, pre-post industrial revolution, Civil War and Reconstruction, two world wars with a Great Depression sandwiched in between), - what in tarnation makes you believe that our 44th President who will cede office to the 45th in about 3 years time has broken the 7th seal and is saddling up with three other horsemen?

BTW, the 9th Amendment is typically cited by the Federal courts as establishing a constitutional right to privacy. In your scholarly professional life you surely must be a very savvy academic to understand the well documented arguments brought forth by the likes of Hamilton and Madison as to what the 9th might imply OR not to enduring personal freedoms. What they wrote for the 9th leaves many to consider it not so clear.

I'll post it here and you can enlighten us public school graduates (admitted shame) by your constitutional brilliance.

Maybe we should name it "Ronnie Raygun Elementary" and serve ketchup as the school vegetable. Would that make you wingnuts happy?

On a different subject, when will they be building new Danville schools for all the extra KB Gulag kids? And how much of the tab will the ultra wealthy Kaufman & Broad be paying? And answers Mister Mayor?

Derek, I don't know the answer to your questions about the KB project (and I'm not the mayor) but I am aware that generally the exaction of fees for school construction required by new developments is handled by the school district, not by the city. So some financial contribution will be made, although it probably will be inadequate.
