I actually had to read this several time to confirm and then confirm again that the "victim" is the kid selling the marijuana. Feels like the "Chief" missed that key point when bragging about the arrest

It's very interesting that the "victim" even reported the crime. I'm sure the robbers weren't counting on that.
I bet a lot of these incidents occur in the drug trade that never get reported.
So, what happens to the kid drug dealer in this scenario?
Will there be more details reported?

I believe lots of drug deals go down in that area

And what is the NAME of the drug-seller?
Why shouldn't that be reported? (Even if he was selling medicinal pot.)

Just a few years ago, a young man was shot and killed on his front porch during a marijuana sale gone bad. His father received his diploma at what would have been his son's graduation ceremony at SRVHS.
This boy was lucky. When will they ever learn?

A search warrant would be in order at the Marijuana dealer's home. probably lives with Mom and Dad.
Parents please take responsiblity for for childs actions...
Danville PD nice pinch. now please take the next logical step.

Only in danville! So the dealer is a "victim?!" Seriously? He gets cited & released? Isn't it against the law 2 sell drugs??? I bet the "victim" gets his weed back too! Danville is FULL OF DEALERS! NOT JUST KIDS! last Halloween, almost every house smelled like pot! Most were not hiding it, I even was offered some in front of my 11 yr old! Also most houses were giving out beer! What happened to "dare." My uncle, who was a danville cop, started the program.. bet he's rolling in his grave! Thanks danville 4 keeping it going! LOL

Stories like this remind us why Danville wants to keep pot dispensaries out of our town-

Derek - Do you mean because the local teen dealers would then have (legal) competition?

I wouldn't be surprised if most folks who have commented negatively on this topic either bought or tried marijuana at some point in their life, probably around 17-25, just like this kid. The gun portion is what makes this crazy. Don't blame the kid, or Danville. And don't be a hypocrite.

Herman Glates is a registered user.

Teens sell drugs because it’s lucrative. It’s lucrative because it is illegal. If it was legal, the price would drop and people would get out of the drug business. There would be less drug users because there would be less drug sellers / pushers.

The war on drugs is yet another example of how big government makes problems worse.

I’ve never tried pot, but I’d support a person’s right to use it, so long as they buy it elsewhere (outside Danville / online) and I don’t have to see or smell it.

No Dave, because they get robbed at gunpoint frequently.

Maybe we should focus even more, Derek, on making sure that Danville's kids aren't selling drugs.

Good thought, but it won't happen. Supply & demand, ya' know? That's like asking high schooler's to abstain from hanky panky.
An individual can still be robbed of course, but a dispensary is a known, fixed destination for criminals.

I lost interest in toasting my brain cells many decades ago, but I have two old friends who both buy occasionally from "herbal outlets". Between the two of them, they have probably used at least eight or nine different dispensaries. With one exception they have all been robbed at gun or knife point, some multiple times.

The War on Drugs has always been a joke. I am for fully legalizing pot and for removing all restrictions on agricultural hemp farming, but a dispensary typically does a lot more cash business than most liquor stores. And look how often those fall victim to armed robberies. I think if a dispensary had a prominent sign that said "credit cards only - no cash transactions", that could sure help dissuade those with bad intent.

Personally, at least for now, I wouldn't want a dispensary moving into the Ric's Picks building. Or anywhere else in Danville. If you disagree with me, ask yourself a simple question: Would you want your son or daughter working at one?
