While the socialists, liberals and democrats are banning everything from e cigarettes to sugar sodas why not get rid of aerosol spray cans.

Wow James......your insight is truly helpful.
What a shame, hope the perps are caught.

The problem is not the aerosol but the lack of understanding of the idiot that holds the can.The purpose of the memorial is lost on this cretin and it becomes merely another blank space to fill with his stupid self-expression.
If caught he should bed made to use his tongue to clean if off.

@ James, what is your rationale for blaming socialists, liberals and democrats for the defacement of the All Wars Memorial? I do not see the connection at all. Please explain.

Kim - please read James' comment again. He did not blame socialists, et al for the defacement...

What's necessary here is good parenting to instill in their kids the basic tenet of right and wrong. This failed in this case and when they catch the perps they need to charge the parents with parental neglect and poor parenting. Both the kids and the parents should be responsible for cleaning up the mess.
There is someone who knows about this and I urge all parents to have their kids ask around and see if they can come up with some information. We need to apprehend these cretins who did this.

Why stop at making them lick it off? Your sentiments would lead me to believe that you would also approve of 50 severe lashes like they would in Saudi Arabia, or better yet just cut off their dominant hand.
And too bad James that republicans are not made to ingest high levels of polluted air, water and food. It is clear to me that the lobbyists and corporations always seem to oppose cleaner air, water, food regulations because they are job killers.

Wake up folks..Yes some of the youth in Alamo and Danville could use a couple of lashes.
The only comment that made sense was Bill from Danville.
By the way, good detective work "The Vandalism Incident happened late Sunday Night" WOW that wasn't very difficult to figure out.
Yes punish the guilty and charge the parents for all the expenses related to this matter. Maybe an over-night stand at attention at the War Memorial site for 12 to 15 hours will make them think twice before defacing anything again...
Thanks for listening, Julia Pardini from Alamo
PS..I hope the reward money motivates one of there buddy's to point the finger. You know what they say, "money talks and BS walks"

I guess it's time to install security cameras at strategic locations in the park...

Chances are the people who did this are not local.

This act hurts me deeply. I have placed a paver there for both my deceased daughter and my husband. The memorial is my place to "be with" two people of whom I am very proud as both of them served our country in the US Navy.
I feel very sorry for the parents of the vandals as the pride they have for their child can be nothing like the pride I hold for mine.

@ Grandma, that's the problem. You really believe the youth in Alamo and Danville are angels...no way Grandma.
I believe this was done by very local youths...maybe for reasons as the marking says. "Let Get High". Too bad grandma but that's the way it is out here.
Again, thanks for listening, Julia Pardini from Alamo

I have taken all of my children by that memorial and talked with them about the debt of gratitude we owe those that have birthed and continually protected our nation. We have read together all the memorable quotes that appear on the various granite slabs at the site.
I suggest that all parents and grandparents reading about the defacement take their chidren and grandchildren there and give them an understanding of why they should revere the site. Perhaps if the perps that defaced it had had someone do that for them, they might not have done their defacement that shows great disrespect for the men and women honored by it.

Have no doubt that the vandals are graduating students from Monte Vista as I believe that last year's class did the same thing with red and black spray paint around town last year.

We can't say for sure if they are local, but if so $6,500 should be pretty tempting. Crikey, I wish I knew who did it !
Give it a week, and maybe we'll have a nice follow up story and some embarrassed parents.

I'm sure if they find the parents, they will just say that the memorial was in the way of their kids self expression. therefore, it's not their kids fault, it's the memorials.

Just a thought...Their spray can messages may be a good clue to the Vandals.
It's almost like finger prints..These folks like to spread their calling card. Maybe the DPD have some records on previous spray can messages.
Like I said just a thought. Offering a reward like money is like putting water down a gofer hole...they will surface and when they do...by by baby.

From @Julia: "Wake up folks..Yes some of the youth in Alamo and Danville could use a couple of lashes."
Really Julia? Thanks to our system for holding these kind of sentiments at bay, cause in other times or places you might find an outspoken person like Julia, who at times upsets people with her comments, given the death penalty, held in jail, or sentenced to 1000 severe lashes. In this "other world," people would be fortunate to not have pissed off the mayor, the police chief, the governor, the ruling junta, the tribal lord or other such sycophant.

The All Wars Memorial is one of the most beautiful Memorials in the Bay Area, if not Northern California. Seems like ten years ago the Memorial was dedicated to all who sacrificed to assure our freedom. A wonderful place to visit - especially to share with your children & grandchildren - helping them learn values & about the price of freedom.
It is very unfortunate, especially in a wonderful community as the Diablo Valley, to find some who lack the upbringing to know right from wrong... and do not seem aware of or care about - very basic respect for a Memorial. It is honoring all those who served to provide the freedom - they clearly do not understand.

Hey MD you heard it from this wise lady... give the brats a lash or two on the back side.
Your comments do not make any sense...not in my book. maybe to the bleeding hearts, but no me and I am sure not to many others.
Just maybe it was one of your out of control kid that help dishonor the memorial.
Keep listening MD you may learn something.

2 things:
1) perhaps this area is an incubator for these unsavory elements? Stoner Valley Road, "Let's get hight" - coincedence? I think not.
2) Danville PD may want to look into Julia's behavior modification techniques - lashing is so 80's.

Tonight on CCTV Veterans Voices had a great segment on the All wars memorial and what a great place it is to visit... and they spoke about a large reward and showed an NBC video of the memorial and highlighted Danville and the community.
This was a live program on CCTV cable.
Thanks to those who helped share this information about vandalism.

Why are people so quick to blame this on the parents? Who's to say they didn't try to teach and instill core values into those responsible for doing this? Instead of trying to pass the blame onto them, why can't we focus on the fact that those responsible for doing this should be caught and face the consequences for their own actions.
I'm sure not all parents today would blame the system or state that those responsible were simply trying to "express themselves." So let's get off the whole "it's the parents fault" train and let those actually responsible for this heinous crime suffer the consequences of their own actions.
