Come on... What's the big deal? Haven't we all done that at some point with our kids?
And as I always have to point out to you people with zero sense of humor or who are offended at the slightest thing, I'm joking.

No, ISM. Intoxicated Soccer Mom. Or future soccer mom.
This should get the chins wagging at the next PTA meeting.

And THAT, dear readers, is where NASCAR drivers come from.

Whereas I do find the Danville Express to be a plethora of local info and news, I do find that the public shaming of someone who is obviously in trouble quite disturbing. Of course her behavior is dangerous to her child and being that she is a resident of San Ramon, but the event occurring in Danville, means that there is a high probability that she had driven herself and child to Danville while intoxicated.
As sad as it was to read this article, the comments are even sadder.
I am NOT defending nor condoning her behavior in ANY way and am relieved that nothing worse happened, but why must people poke fun of someone who obviously has a problem.
We don't know what's going on in this person's life that made her justify this behavior.
Derek, your comment epitomizes my stance.
Rather than poke fun or degrade someone with an issue, why don't people try to be more compassionate?
How many people have rolled out of any of the local establishments after having several drinks, and get into their cars? Don't throw stones......

"allege" and "arrested on suspicion of". Guess in Danville all the schmucks figure she's guilty until proven innocent.

I'm sorry, Danville Mom, but do I understand the last part of your comment to contain a healthy dose of "there, but for grace, go all of us?" Because if that was your intent I'd like to disabuse you of that notion -- most folks, even around here, do NOT drive (or stroller) several sheets to the wind, or even 0.08% blood alcohol+. It's not that we don't get caught at it, it's that we don't do it. Period.
Now, it may be that you do, which might account for your apparent tolerance of the woman who had the bad fortune to get caught at her recreations. IF that's the case, would you please do us all a favor and post here whenever you expect to careen around town with your buzz-on? I'd like to be certain to be in hiding when you do.

Gordon J, you obviously either did not read all of Danville Mom's post or perhaps fail to comprehend what she wrote.
She clearly stated she doesn't condone the behavior so why would you think she's ok with anyone drinking and driving? It's clear to me that she doesn't think that's ok!
I agree that many people here (read "upstanding and responsible adults") do drink and drive which I find reprehensible , which I'm sure was her message.
Maybe you were just trying to put humor into a sad situation or maybe you just wanted to read into what you thought you read.

Bob: if DVM truly believed the 'NOT condone' part of her post, she would not have included the last part. So, please forgive me for not buying it (but I don't).
And while we're at it, is she really suggesting that this person's privacy, or something, should be protected from newspaper disclosure? It seems to me that she waived any right to privacy when she 'allegedly' behaved in that fashion, in public, thus endangering not only herself and her kid, but anyone else who had the misfortune to be out-and-about. Is DVM's point that the news should only report nice things?
I suspect that this individual is indeed deeply embarrassed by her behavior -- I even hope she is. But that's entirely because she did it, and NOT because the DSRX reported it.
Finally, the fact that DVM turns her wrath on other commenters is troubling and bizarre. I too hope that person gets help, but it does not prevent me from seeing dark humor in the situation. Derek's (and my) comments may not be everybody's cuppatea, and that's fine. But we are not the villains here.

Gordon J...just to clarify, I do not condone drinking and driving. (I cannot imagine how you misread my original post but no need to beat things until they're dead!)
As far as people drinking and driving, just check out downtown Danville especially Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights! You can put your head in the sand and dispute it all you want but the facts are correct. So you can "buy" whatever you want or not since you seem like you just like to read into people's words and misconstrue.
To address your statement that I think "only nice things" should be reported, the news is the news and where I do believe the facts should be stated, my finding distaste was not in the reporting but rather the people making a mockery of the situation in the comments. This is something else that I had thought I had clearly stated but I guess another point that you obviously mis-read.
So, thanks for giving me a reason to reiterate so other people don't make same mistakes with my post as you did.
Enjoy your weekend.

Local Mom got stumble-drunk downtown with her kid in tow. You won't beLIEVE what happened next! or better yet
Newspaper reported that drunk woman endangered her child -- and these people blamed The Newspaper!
