What is the candidates view on the recent talks about closure and building on San Ramon golf course.

I voted for the golf course to have a land use designation of "Golf Course" when it cam to the council many years ago. That designation limits the building on the site to buildings that directly support golf (like a pro shop and cart maintenance shed) and an event center. That was the correct decision at the time and I believe that it is still the right designation now.

FYI - It would take a UNANIMOUS decision of the City Council to change that designation since Dave Hudson lives near the course and would be prohibited from voting on potential change. Our Ordinance requires 4 votes to change the designation. If just one member does NOT vote to change the designation then the change cannot happen. JUST ONE "NO" VOTE AND THE MEASURE FAILS.

I promise you that I will not ABSTAIN from voting on any proposed change to the golf course land use designation.

Vice Mayor
Candidate for re-election to the City Council

Aren't there rules that preclude a council member from declaring how he or she will vote on something before it is heard? Saying you believe it is still the correct designation now, before any public hearing, sounds an awful lot like you are not giving the applicant a fair shake.

There is no proposal before the city at this time. I am making no commitment regarding an unknown proposal. I am saying that the current land use designation is appropriate now.

Councilman,

Don't condescend us all. We can read what you wrote, and it was a lot more than "that the current land use designation is appropriate now."

Eleezeh - The general plan was approved by the voters and any major changes to the general plan should be approved by the voters again. I do not support re-zoning of the San Ramon golf course. If elected my vote would not be in favor of the developer. If you have any other questions please feel free to reach out via my website Web Link or phone: (925) 272 9097

Regarding Scott Perkins' comments: as a City Council member, he has to be very circumspect in what he says about matters like this. We have a good idea where he stands in the golf course matter from his past actions and statements. I did not read his comments to be in any way condescending--only carefully measured.
