Good work law enforcement!
I'm just alarmed at the fact that youth from Oakland think they can come over to this area to do their crimes now.

When I moved to this area 20+ years ago, I regarded it as a bit of a disadvantage that my house was a good 10 minute drive from I-680, as this added to commute time, etc.

But now, being farther from the freeway is an advantage in terms of safety, since easy freeway access is important to robbers, car-jackers, etc.

I'm glad the perpetrators in this case were stopped before they got to the Caldecott tunnel. In one of the car-jackings that occurred several months ago, pursuit of the car-jackers was called off (I believe in this other case it was by Danville PD, but am not sure) once the jackers got to the tunnel. The rationale was that once the local police had to go into the tunnel, it would take too much time for them to return to our area, in the case of another emergency. So once the Caldecott tunnel is reached, you have to rely on CHP or perhaps Oakland PD to take up the pursuit (which may or may not happen). I understand the logic, but at the same time, just letting the jackers get away didn't seem right....

Thanks, Orinda PD, for assisting in this case! (I wouldn't be too surprised if the same guys had previously hit up some commercial establishments in Orinda, also close to the freeway, and even closer to "home" for the perps.)

What were these people thinking? The thieves--not the victim. I know what she must have been thinking!
