Shooting in Pittsburgh, PA

Original post made by RozRogoff2, San Ramon, on Oct 29, 2018

This blog, or comment, is very personal to me. This is about the recent shooting at the Synagogue in Pittsburgh, PA. I moved to Pittsburgh almost 60 years ago to attend Carnegie Tech, before Mellon bought the naming rights. I attended the Margaret Morrison Carnegie College for one year and transferred to the College of Fine Arts the following year to study Drama.

I still have college friends living in Pittsburgh or nearby. I phoned one of them yesterday about this shooting. Pittsburgh was always a safe city and a very nice one in most neighborhoods. This shooting was totally out of character for Pittsburgh.

My friend told me she knew one of the people who was killed. My friend isn’t Jewish and doesn’t live in Pittsburgh now, but she still lives in a nearby suburb. She remembered that I used to attend a Synagogue in that area. It wasn’t the one this bigot shot up, but there are several others in that neighborhood.

This is a scary time in America. There are crazy people with guns, and no amount of gun control can stop them. We need to address mental illness and political BS and stop the hate that is dividing us. How we do that, I don't know, but we really need to do that NOW.

Some people are criticizing Trump for causing this backlash of White anger, but Trump is not and never has been anti-Jewish. In fact, his daughter, Ivanka, converted to Judaism when she married Jared Kushner, and their children are being raised as Orthodox Jews. Maybe someone should tell this killer he will not get a Pardon from President Trump!
