Sure hated to see the lawyer building come down. It was an attractive one. However I realize the need Danville has for parking to promote downtown patronage, too.

I applaud the Town of Danville for it's foresight to continue providing additional parking, without the need to add meters. It is vital to the economic vitality of any town to firstly, provide an incentive to shop and dine by having a good mix of locally-owned businesses, and secondly, to have the infrastruture in-place to accommodate the patrons that small business is so heavily reliant to succeed. Whilst Walnut Creek is a destination for regional shopping, I try to avoid shopping in-and-around Broadway Plaza due to the seven-days a-week metered parking.

I agree Danville need more parking, but I was surprised at the price tag for this project. $9.2 million is a $70,229 per parking space for the additional 131 spaces.

I heard the town officials circumvented the listing agents for the sale and cut a deal with the owners directly after conspiring to have the sale delayed until the town was ready to buy it. Heard there was a big lawsuit and the real estate agents prevailed. Anyone know anything about the story ?
