looks like they are going to remove the drive thru and the parking? Danville needs more parking, not less.

As someone who walks downtown I have never liked the "drive thru" at the Clock Tower that connected Hartz to the parking lot behind the Clock Tower. It is an unexpected "hazard" where cars can drive across the downtown walkway.
The Clock Tower does need a facelift but I hope that the Town will actually follow its own guidelines and keep the 80% limit rule. Why even have these building limits if they are always ignored?

The parking lot is FULL most of the day. I hope they don't take any parking away - that will just hurt local businesses. I like and use the drive-though from Diablo Road. We do NOT need an "outdoor gathering space" in that location. We need parking.

I am in full support of giving the clock tower center a needed facelift. It is dated and could use some love. I just hope the city and architects use quality materials and keep the aesthetic unique to the charm and history of the town (ie - no stucco!!!). Yes, we are in the suburbs, but we can build something new that doesn’t feel like a it belongs in Dublin right off the freeway. Uniqueness and charm is why people come to Danville.
All the lack of parking comments drive me nuts. I am in downtown at least twice a month and NEVER have a problem. Why would anyone vote for parking over a quaint plaza? This is a town NOT a strip mall! The lot west of Hartz is often full, BUT there is a brand new parking lot right next to the theater or plenty of open spaces off Railroad Ave next to the Iron Horse. We need to be OK with walking a couple blocks. Heck, that is what keeps the town vibrant and traffic into the shops. Let’s move or feet people and get our steps in!

Don't miss out on the discussion!
