The public servant allegedly committed fraud on duty. That being the said, I wonder how this might effect his pension with the Public Employees Relations Board (PERS).

So let me get this straight,

Its alright for Joe (listed below are just a few felonies...

"Longtime Contra Costa County politician Joe Canciamilla is facing possible criminal charges after agreeing to pay $150,000 in state fines for misusing campaign funds."

"As part of the settlement deal, he admitted to 30 violations of the California Political Reform Act."

"Canciamilla spent some of the money to remodel a Hawaiian vacation home and some of it -- $36,119 -- for vacation to Asia, according to the FPPC."

Yet now a fire chief does the same thing and everyone is upset?

This is a common occurrence and yet these people are only responsible to pay it back it seems. Now if i were to commit such crimes i would be locked up for years if not decades.

A broken system leads to broken society.

Re CCC Fire Protection District Battalion Chief: This was no "accidental" payroll clerks mistake!
It was premeditated stealing. Louis Manzo,Jr must be prosecuted for every penny of his thievery. I wonder how much in false OT he collected over his career. We'll never know or recover it. BTW - do all fire fighters retire as Captains/Chiefs?...seems so after collecting excessive OT in their last year in order to "spike" their pension! If that's not enough, I get a weekly phone call asking for a donation to the widows fund as if they have no coverage for this.
We (the taxpayers) deserve much more monitoring of the Police and Firefighters Union pay and retirement program. Do you agree?
