The Danville Town Council is set to discuss potential bicycle improvements for the west side of Diablo Road during a special study session scheduled for Tuesday morning — hours before convening for a relatively routine council meeting Tuesday evening.
An informational meeting with no official decisions set to be made, the study session wil see council members discuss a variety of hot-button issues, including bicycle safety on the infamous Diablo Road, the town’s efforts to create a multi-sport skate park, a review of electric vehicle charging stations and a special report from city attorney Rob Ewing on a proposed ordinance banning flavored vaping products.
Council members also plan to convene for closed meeting during their study session, to review the town’s ongoing litigation with Verizon Wireless.
After dispersing for several hours, the council will reconvene at night for a relatively routine meeting where they will hear a quarterly investment report from Chandler Asset Management, an update on the status of the Contra Costa County Library Commission and review of the activities of the Contra Costa Transportation Authority Citizens Advisory Committee.
During the relatively routing meeting, council members will review seven consent agenda items that will be approved without comment unless further discussion is requested by a city official or member of the community. Consent agenda items include awarding a construction contract to the downtown LED street light replacement project and approving a notice of completion for the Front Street bank stabilization project.
Afterward, the council will discuss upcoming events and activities for the Danville Disaster Council.
The Danville Town Council’s study session will be held at 8:30 a.m. on Monday at the Town Offices located at 510 La Gonda Way.
Councilmembers are then set to convene for the town’s regular meeting at 7:30 p.m. in the Town Meeting Hall, 201 Front St., Danville.
It would be nice this article would give more precise info… for ex, the “ordinance banning flavored vaping products”… is this the banning of the use of vaping products in public spaces? The use in multi-dwelling units? The sale of vaping products? The possession? Not the latter I’m sure but a little more info would help someone decide whether they want to attend the meeting.

It’d be nice if the cyclists would also abide by the same rules of the road that EVERYONE has to. (ie. taking full stops at stop-sign intersections instead of flying through, almost getting hit by people making left-hand turns)
