Gee, poor Gavin is now short on funds even though he runs a state with one of the highest state income taxes in the U.S. Perhaps he now wishes he hadn’t wasted $35 billion ion the train to nowhere. If he was running a business, he would have cut staff and expenses a long time ago. There are lots of redundant organizations in California. For example, does the California Coastal Commission really add much value buying the U.S. Coast Guard? Do we need such a big California Air Resources Board (CARB) when we have the EPA? There is a lot of room to cut fat out of the system. I haven’t even mentioned our generous welfare system which attracts almost 1/3 of Americans on welfare even though we represent 12% of the U.S. population. California also has more than $180 billion in underfunded pension obligations. We keep kicking the can down the road.

If the feds do agree to help, I hope they place strict terms and conditions on the aid.
