The Danville town council hides behind a blanket letter rather than voicing individual concerns. That is not leadership. And their silence about other marches and protests in Danville and in our surrounding areas is in contrast to their attempt to silence the celebration of July 4th.
They assume the celebration will be unsafe after having expressed no safety concerns about other protests whose timeline matches up with an increase in "cases".
Note that while stats do show an increase in cases, they do not show a corresponding increase in deaths. That is the good news. Of course that does NOT mean we should not practice safe behavior but it does question the reaction of our local leadership. Stay safe but celebrate our Independence Day.

This is the same town council that, just a few days ago, wailed that it could no longer support the county health orders because of intense pressure to reopen restaurants and bars. Happy to see them acting sensibly now, but it's a fairly sharp reversal.
