MTC seeks comments on new I-680 toll express lanes north of San Ramon Valley

With the activation of the Extortion Lanes, expect higher congestion levels on Hwy 680 south from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m.
"California Highway Patrol would enforce vehicle occupancy requirements, illegal crossing of double white lines and other rules."
*Would*... not *WILL*, because it likely won't happen here any more than it doesn't already happen in other areas.
So all of this money (our tax dollars for *repairing and maintaining* roadways) has gone into this project to steal a lane from 680S for the monied elites, and yet with all the lane changing, the roadway has become even more destroyed - and NOT repaired. The section from Willow Pass Rd to south of the Walnut Creek interchange especially has been a ragged disaster, ever since the widening project in the 1990s! With this latest 'project,' it is nearly impossible to determine where actual lanes are - from all the gouged out channels of removed lines, to the lightly spray painted new "lines". Each time a lane change has been made (over the past 3 decades), the previous lines have been ground out leaving deep channels. This is a safety hazard because these deep gouges grab tires and cause sudden lateral shifts when the tires get pulled into the ruts. I can't even begin to think of the danger when the rains come and all of those channels fill with water. Shame on CalTrans and the MTC to even consider this dangerous condition as acceptable and to call it "completed". Fie on you!

I completely agree with George, a ripoff of the tax payers and the reduction of flow on our freeways by 20%, and now they have double white striped lanes which means if you are in the toll lane you are stuck there for several miles, so you cannot even get off at your exit. I suppose, even after the hours of operation, if you use the lane and cross the double white striped lines to get off at your exit you will be subject to a violation? Just more nonsense by an out of control agency. The voters keep voting for more gas taxes to improve our highways and we are paying over a dollar more per gallon then in over States, and this is what we get. This just another reason why long time residents are leaving the State of CA.
