You want to stop lawlessness, change the laws and advertise everywhere that anyone selling fentanyl gets an automatic 30 years to life sentence.

The same goes for ALL violent crime too: Murder, Rape, Robbery, etc. Well, as far as Murder and Rape goes, make that a mandatory death sentence.

Of course, most of our current problems regarding crime of all sorts, is directly related to Democrats. Look what just happened to Mayor Lightfoot in Chicago as a result of her soft on crime approach. She was unceremoniously and satisfactorily given the boot. California is no different. The idiot up there in Sacramento is releasing convicted felons and closing prisons.

There was a time when moderate Democrats were not that much different than their moderate Republican counterparts when it came to stiff sentences for violent people. Both parties abhorred crime. Buy slowly, over the years, the moderate Democratic Party has become a socialist enclave. Look at Portland or Seattle. Once great cities are now filthier than San Francisco, and that ain’t saying much.

One thing for sure, today’s Democrat is tomorrow’s socialist.

I agree with Mr. Hex...those convicted of murder & rape should be harshly punished.

Rape is a heinous crime and a perverse violation of one's body. In addition to a 30-year imprisonment term, chemical castration is also warranted and this measure should apply to those convicted of child molestation and rape.

The death penalty for murder will always be a hotly contested topic except in states like Texas and Oklahoma.

Were the authorities able to trace the manufacturing and distribution network?

Most illicit fentanyl is manufactured in China and then routed to Mexico where it eventually makes its way into the United States via border smuggling and illegal immigration.

It is my understanding that the Mexican cartels are also involved in the manufacturing of fentanyl as well.

From the comments above, there seems to be complete agreement that serious action is required. During my working life, I had occasion to visit Singapore numerous times. When Lee Kuan Yue founded Singapore and lead it for many years, he was a benevolent dictator. As a consequence, Singapore enacted a serious drug possession law. At their international airport there are signs you get to read as an arriving passenger which read "DADA MEANS DEATH." The translation is, if you have drugs in your possession, we will EXECUTE YOU! And they do!
The time for coddling people who deal in drugs needs to be over. Mexico is a narco-state with a weak President. We are doing more to try and protect the people in the Ukraine than we are doing to protect our own citizens. Reports say that in the past year or two, Fentanyl has killed over 100,000 of our people. And virtually all of this drug comes from China via Mexico. We can't invade China, but we sure as hell could invade Mexico, and we should. If the drug deaths in this country are not an act of war on the part of Mexico, I don't know what you would call it. We should tell Lopez Obrador that we will be coming into his country with American troops, and we will eliminate the cartels by force. Mexico is waging a war against America allowing the cartels to do business there, but Lopez Obrador says the problem is ours since we're the "consumers." He's basically saying he doesn't give a damn, so we need to take action in his country to stop the ability to kill our citizens.
